Default Monday Night Raw June 4 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The final slap of referee Mike Chioda’s hand on the concrete floor was music to John Cena’s ears, as the WWE Champion laid across the prone body of The Great Khali.

It was the music to drown out the doubters that griped about Cena’s contested victory at Judgment Day – one tainted by Khali’s stray foot outside the ring ropes. It drowned out the doubters in the locker room that murmured after Khali dominated him on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

This time at One Night Stand, there were no questions left unanswered. The Champ had beaten the never-pinned monster.

In a Pinfalls Count Anywhere Match, Cena methodically hacked down the giant with whatever he could find. Cena FU’d the beast from on top of a construction crane down to the arena floor, then covered him for the three-count to earn the undisputed victory.

The victory didn’t seem likely from the start of the night as Khali, through his interpreter, told the fans that he was ready to destroy The Champ.

“[Cena, I] can pin you in the ring, in the concession stand, or in the parking lot … I will break you,” Khali promised.

As the match started, Cena tried to strike quickly, keeping out of the reach of Khali, striking at his tree-trunk-like legs with stiff kicks.

But Cena wasn’t fast enough. As promised, Khali caught The Champ, unleashing several strong chops to his head, tossing him around like a sack of potatoes.

Khali later took the fight outside the ring, throwing Cena headfirst into Jim Ross’ monitor at the Raw announce table. Then the fight spilled into the crowd, where Cena found his saving grace.

First, Cena used a technician’s TV monitor to stun Khali, then a camera boom crane. Though, neither was enough to allow for Cena’s FU slam. But as the fight found its way on top of a construction crane near the entranceway, Cena raked the beast’s eyes and lifted him up on his shoulders for the FU. The crowd roared as Cena then slammed Khali down 12 feet to the concrete floor.

An exhausted Cena practically fell off the crane, and quickly hooked Khali’s leg for the three-count. He had retained the WWE Championship.

After celebrating with the fans, Cena told WWE.com that pinning the giant was a personal benchmark for him.

“I wanted the extra pressure tonight, telling myself that I could [pin Khali], even though everyone else was telling me I couldn’t,” The Champ said. “Sometimes you got to just look inside. For me, it was gut check time.”

Cena smiled when asked if this put an end to his rivalry with the Indian colossus.

“I probably haven’t seen the last of The Great Khali, but now he knows I’m coming for him,” Cena said. “And I’m not going to back down anymore."

SuperCena wins again curse him and those meddling kids.

No please don't even think of putting Cena in the same sentence as Rock/Austin...or Hogan or Savage or any legend...Cena is garbage..therefore a feud with Orton wouldn't be great..it'd be better than Khali, but not great.

Cena ain't garbage but equally it wouldn't be in the same light as those feuds mentioned. Still from the spoilers of this weeks RAW sounds like it was a filler for Cena until the draft when they can start a proper title feud with him again with fresh talent. Apart from the Cena stuff the rest of the card sounded ok with some good developments but nothing spectacular.

BTW isn't the RAW thread usually stickied? Mods?

I'm sorry but I must disagree with Cena not being garbage, the only reason he's champion is b/c he makes tons of money for Vince. If it were pure wrestling ability, Cena would never touch gold (mabey the IC but that's it). The majority of wrestling fans are the age group of about 12-16 these days and most of them love Cena b/c they are E-Marks (fans who started watched during the WWE days) and don't realize how crappy he really is. Most of us Smarks who watched wrestling in the 90s when it was good realize that Cena is terrible and predible and getting to be extremely boring as champ. Cena isn't the worst in the ring, but IMHO he's garbage.

He's not bad in the ring but he ain't got nothing on most of the guys in the 90's I know. But he can work a mike fucking well no doubt and he makes Vince cash. Those two things alone make him not garbage even less garbage when put into the lack of main event talent context of today's wrestling world. Though I don't personally like him and think he has been overpushed you still have to recognise his talent.

I've come to progressively dislike Cena on the mic more and more. He seems like a 10 year old child with ADD at some points. Like..Calm the fuck down...You'll lose your voice quicker than a metal singer at this point. Yes John, I know the crowd is loud, Yes John, I know some people like you and some don't..Yes John, I know the atmosphere is electric ...And Yes John, With you on TV, there are some points where I wish I was somewhere else...You don't have to say it every time you're on the stick. Yes John, I know you have "doubters"..Yes John, I know you love to prove them wrong..And yes John..I know you..And this is the one that makes me cringe..NEVER BACK DOWN FROM A FIGHT...And Yes..I know, that unfortunately sometimes..You're..Still..Here.

Just rap for me John..Is that so hard?

If I hadn't recently repped you I'd do it again cos I agree his current mike work is geting stale as piss. but what can he do its damn creative. let him go heel again or say whatever he damn well wants. he used to be so fucking entertaining when he was uncensored on mike but now WWE have pulled out the blacktape to try and make it a family friendly show.

Do any of you even remember the 80's? how bout the 90's?

Were any of you old enough to see a Bret Hart match in the WWE?

Do you remember when Miss Kitty got naked for the crowd?...and we actually saw it?

Do you remember when the Rock wasn't a credible IC champion?

Do you remember when Hogan defeated Andre?

Do you remember when Jim Duggan won the Rumble?

Do you remember IRS? Sid? The Million Dollar Belt? The Madness? Jake The Snake? When Warrior wasn't frikkin nuts? Terra Ryzing? Roddy Piper having the greatest entrance of all time? Shawn Michaels having a fucking amazing entrance? Ric Flair before his tits sagged to his knees?

Please....stop talking bout the "good old days".

Most of you pups, ain't old enough to even know what that actually means.

Wrestling used to have magic to it.

I remember seeing Hulk Hogan lifting Andre the Giant and slamming him to the mat while I screamed "HOLY SHIT!"
I remember marking out when I saw Hogan "hulk out"
I remember the Undertaker being unstoppable.
I remember "Ya Know something, Mean Gene"
I remember Mr.T
I remember The Mania and The Madness teamin up
I remember Miss Elizabeth
I remember 2 intercontinental champs
I remember Hot Rod being the mother fuckin man.

I remember watching Raw and not being completely underwhelmed
I remember watching Saturday Night Main Event and not being completely disappointed.

Y'all don't remember shit.

Khali as a 24 hour champ would have at least been different.
I'm bored with Cena.
Actually if they took fan submitted ideas i had a sweet one that would keep people watching awhile.

Funny how they touched on how the Hardys MIGHT be split up due to the draft when they already ARE on two different shows.
