Was thinking to myself the other day while watching Smackdown "there is something missing here" and it came to me. Smackdown has a lot of potential that are all being pushed using the U.S title. There is too much competition for it.
If Smackdown introduced something like the WWE Television title and RAW re-introduced the European any young stars that are showing potential could be given that strap to prove there worth as a champion. It crossed my mind on whether that would mean there are too many championships but there are too many superstars who are sitting in mid-card obscurity with alot of potential and are waiting in the cue for the 2nd tier belts which should be used by proven wrestlers. The 3rd tier belts would provide younger, up and coming wrestlers with something to aim for before better things and give them a platform to prove themselves on. Just a thought that i think needs discussing.

I suppose the talent is thin, but where is there for the talent with potential to go when just starting out and not necessarily due for the 2nd tier belt or first tier. I still think it would be a good idea to give the youth exposure and experience in the lime-light to see how they handle it. It worked for Eddie, Triple H, Shawn Michaels etc. Why not try again instead of having this backlog on either roster waiting for people to move up the card before beign able to get a shot at some gold.

What people don't get (bookers... etc...) is that titles don't get people over. They get over on the WAY TO the title. It's especially bad with tag teams. They put London and Kidman over the Dudleys for no reason, they were over for one night, then they were dead. Done. Nowhere to go.
It's so stupid. The IC title is garbage now. The belt bores me. |

I always thought the main idea for a mid-card or "2nd tier" (I kind of like that term for it) title was for there to always be someone in line for the major gold in case something such as an injury, or a bad push came up.
A third tier would thus, be in line for the 2nd tier title. |

I've always liked the Third Tier championships, as you said it gives all the rising superstars are the already established superstars a solid foundation for them to recieve a push later up the Status Ladder, But I also understand the uselessness of the title on RAW or SmackDown! considering that the Intercontinental Championship and U.S Championship is treated like second rate garbage belts. Imagine what it would be like with the people holding the European of Television titles? Gene Snitsky? Matt Striker? Eugene!?!?!

Trev already touched on it.
Adding another belt would mean squat shit if they dont bother writing storylines for these lesser superstars. The only thing it adds is an opportunity to add a title match at PPV's but even then is pointless if it isnt built up and the wwe have shown with there lack of build ups in the tag division that the writers have either A) forgotton how or B) being told not to bother. |
