WWE Raw HOLT report
May 26, 2003
Mobile, Ill.
Report by Adam Lawson of Escatawpa, Miss.

The first thing that happened was Fink telling people not to use laser pointers, or throw things into the ring. He also said not to take commercial pictures.

Dark Matches

(1) Hurricane & David Flair beat Lance Cade & Mark Jindrak. Hurricane got a pretty decent pop, one of the best of the night. Hurricane and Flair won the match.

(2) Ultimo Dragon beat Rico. Fink said it was Ultimo Dragon's WWE debut. Rico got a lot of "Rico's Gay" chants. Ultimo won the match. He did a lot of good martial arts style kicking in the match, and I was amazed to see him back.

Then Fink explained that the Heat tapings were going to start. They set up the ring just before his announcement for the pyro. Coach came out, followed by Al Snow. Snow got a big pop, too. Ten or so minutes passed with no action in between the second dark match and the pyro for Heat going off.

Heat Tapings

(1) Scott Steiner beat Lance Storm. Steiner came out to a huge pop. Stacy did her slow bending over the ropes, stopped, went back out, and then did it a third time. That got a bigger pop than Steiner coming out. Lance Storm came out to a chorus of boos. Steiner pretty much annihilated Storm in this match, if I recall correctly.

(2) Maven & Tommy Dreamer beat Three Minute Warning. 3MW came out to moderate boos. Their opponents were Tommy Dreamer and Maven. Maven got the bigger of the two pops, it seemed like. The match was pretty decent live, not sure how it'll look on TV.

(3) Jazz (w/Teddy Long) beat Jackie. Teddy Long came out, and he got a mixed reaction. A couple of people near me yelled "Let me holla at you playa" and a few more responded with a loud chorus of "NO" Jazz came out, then Teddy got on the mic. He talked a little trash about Jackie, and she came out to a small pop. This match was pretty boring. Jazz was losing near the end when Jackie got on the top rope and Teddy Long pushed her off. Jazz picked up the win with a mean looking face lock after that.

(4) Christopher Nowinksi beat Spike Dudley. Nowinski came out and was booed. He had the ridiculous face mask with him, but it was on his head before the match. Spike came out to some cheers. The two wrestled for a while, but I missed what happened in the end. Nowinski won, however.

Other Notes

During Raw, there was some guy with a sign that said "Jimmy" and had an arrow pointing to him. During the commercials he'd hold it up, and half the arena chanted "Jimmy Sucks!" Then at one point he stood up, got booed, and had the girl next to him stand up. She got cheers. Then she sat down, and everyone booed. Then after a while he and the girl coaxed another girl to stand up, and she got cheers. The two girls got cheers, sat down, and the fans booed. It was pretty entertaining during the commercials.

After Richards and Victoria got in the ring, Trish's music played for a while. I'm not sure if it was on TV or not. But it played for about a minute before Val Venis's music started.

Trish came out during a commercial break right after the Stevie Richards and Val Venis match. She got one of the best pops of the night.

Before the Flag Match, someone took Jimmy's sign and ran around the ground level with it. That got a loud pop and a lot of laughter. People booed when he gave Jimmy the sign back.

I'm not sure if this was on TV... Right after Orton, Flair and Triple H left, one of the Navy guys in the arena gave Nash his white cap. Either that, or someone threw it at Nash. didn't catch it, just saw Nash walking around the ring with it.

After Goldust's match with Christian, he walked along the ground floor to the right side of the Titantron and held his hand out for the fans, walking along the ground floor. It was really classy of him.

After Booker T's match, he stayed in the ring until the backstage promo was off, then walked to the back.

Biggest babyface pops of the night:
1) Goldberg.
2) Nash's save.
3) Flair and HBK at the beginning. (People were WOOing all the way to the parking lot)
4) Stacy Kiebler any time she bent over.
5) Trish's quick appearance. (The guy stealing Jimmy's sign was close, though)

Most heel heat:
1) Triple H
2) Jericho when he maced Goldberg.
3) Rico
4) La Resistance. (They brought out a lot of USA chants)
5) Bischoff's "burgeoning metropolis" line really, really pissed off the crowd. (Jimmy gets honorable mention.)

All in all, it was a great show live. Not sure about how well it looked on TV yet. Kind of disappointed not to have seen Molly Holly, Victoria, or Trish wrestle live, though. Good showing from the WWE. The crowd wasn't as into it as I expected, but whenever a face was down or in a submission hold people starting clapping and stomping their feet.

Wow, that Jimmy guy sounds like a great heel. They should sign him right now before he goes to nwa. I hate to see good talent wasted.
