Default Tommy Dreamer's emotional response.

After the Intercontinental/Hardcore Title unification match on Raw a few weeks ago, Tommy Dreamer became emotional and embraced Rob Van Dam in the ring.

The story behind that breakdown is that Dreamer, a legitimately emotional person, was actually choked up, because he believed that match was the end of the so-called hardcore style's prominence on the national stage. Since that was his major claim to fame, he saw it as a symbolic ending to his career as a hardcore wrestler.

Backstage, wrestlers have respect for Dreamer's dedication and devotion to the hardcore style, and respected his reaction to the match.

I think his reaction was cool, and different. I also think that his reaction was brought on because he was wrestling in his home-town, in Madison Square Garden. Growing up Dreamer probably had dream after dream about wrestling a huge show at MSG. Its good to see that kind of passion for the business.

Whether or not its the end of the 'hardcore era' I don't think so. I think its just on hold for awhile. Its too good of a division to take away forever.

I still faill to see WHY they would get rid of the Hadcore division...it was and still is one of the most popular parts of wrestling...the fans want it back but instead they get rid of it, in conectrate on meaningless tag-team matches with little to no REAL tag-teams. Doe this make sense to you?!?!?

first of all, thanks for sharing that story of Dreamer... I never saw it on the boards, I didn't even think it could be that reason!

Hardcore was cool in the WWE, but I think WWE did a seinfeld thing... they shut it down at the right time... they shut it down before it went downhill!

I tohught the hardcore division was great with Tommy Dreamer as champ and when they got rid of the 24/7 rule.
