Default Slow Pitch

Last night I was sitting at home with nothing to do. And my dad comes into the room and he goes to me "Were going to be short for baseball. Do you want to play?" I told him no at first, because for one I didn't think he was serious, and because I haven't played baseball in years. After, when I found out he was serious, he finally talked me into it.

I was so nervious going to the game. lol This is a men's league. The players are like 25 and older. The guys on my dads team are all like in their late 30's and early 40's too. So I felt out of place. And I felt so rusty just throwing the ball I thought I was going to fuck up for sure. I played catcher, because that position is usually desinated for the worst player on the team. lol

I went 0-4. The first time I was up to bat I went down swinging. It was a full count and I swung at a stupid pitch that i'm still mad at myself for swinging at. The next at bat I struckout again. There was a full count again, and the ball was comming to real low and he called it a strike on me. The team was giving the ump a hard time about the call too. lol. And the third at bat I hit this little grounder. The 4th at bat, I finally hit a good ball. I got a good piece of it, and it went into the deep outfeild, but they caught it. But I was happy that I finally hit it far. I'll probably play next week again. But believe me, slow pitch is alot harder to play then it looks. A lot of people I talk to think its so easy to hit the ball and everything. But its not.

One of the hardest things to do is hit a baseball or softball, it takes more skill than you think.

But at least you tried.

Yeah I hear ya man, I got suckered into going to the batting cages about a week ago by my buddy and got owned. It had been so long since I had played baseball, I didn't remember it being so damn hard.

I had no problem hitting the slow pitch, mind you a lot of the hits sucked but they were hits nonetheless. But the faster ones, man I couldn't hit shit.

I give those guys credit for being able to hit those things, I don't even wanna know what I would look like trying to hit a 95 mph fastball.

Where I work they have batting cages. And every morning I have to go and check them. So I turn each one on and make sure there the right height and everything. So when I do that I stay in each cage for a minute or so hitting some balls. I usually like going into the fastball cage just to see how many I can actually hit...and its not many.
