Default Tejada wins home run derby...

Miguel Tejada walked on the field, gazed at Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds and Willie Mays, and felt very out of place in the All-Star Home Run Derby.

"Shivers,'' he recalled. "Just being so close to those guys, it's unbelievable.''

A call for the usual intentional walk to Bonds opened Monday night's All-Star Home Run Derby with a laugh. Tejada then drew gasps, flashing even more power than the slugger who usually gets the attention.

The Baltimore shortstop hit a record 15 home runs in the second round, topping out at 497 feet and putting several over the 58-foot wall behind the left field seats, toward Crawford Street. He went on to defeat hometown favorite Lance Berkman 5-4 in the final with five of 10 outs to spare.

Full story here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is this a sign of things to come for the remainder of Miguel's season? Or is it a just a one time thing?

The home run derby titled isn't even that enticing anymore, I don't even think many people watch it these days... after the Griffey Jr. era, I lost interesting.

Well, it certainly enhances the already enormous popularity of Tejada. I've always liked the guy, and I'm glad it happened to him. He was on fire. But, I'm surprised Lance berkman didn't win, he had "homefield advantage", and he was hitting fucking bombs...oh well, it was a tight race until the end, overall, the homerun derby entertained me

I forgot the home run derby was on. I started to watch it in the 2nd round. I didn't think it was to bad. Like Boss said, he was hitting some bombs. Berkman really blew it at the end though.

I didn't even know what day it was on, but I made some comments to someone at Hooters Sunday night about the Derby and where it was being held.

STICK: "Yeah, the Home Run Derby is at the launching pad in Houston. I guarantee some derby record will be broken at that field."

Then we went on to discuss how retarded that field is with the hill in center

I hope Tejada heats up second half of the season. I need him to do some things for my fantasy team
