Who do you think, past or present, didn't get the credit he/she deserved?

I think the biggest example is Tino Martinez, formerly of the New York Yankees. The guy was a hell of an athlete. He defined the word "clutch". He was a great leader of the team throughout their World Series appearances. Like I said, he's clutch, especially on bigger scenarios (ex.: 1998 WS Grad Slam, 2001 Game Tying 9th Inning Home Run). The thing is, a lot of my friends (mostly Yankees fans) put Tino down, you know "he sucks", yatta yatta. And he really doesn't get alot of cred on the radio or TV programs run by local stations.

I also think Scott Brocious (sp?), of the same team, was underrated. He never got his credit for the great plays he made and also clutch hits.

what athlete do you think doesn't get his/her credit?

Maybe It's Just me bring a Laker Fan...But Derek Fisher Is Extremly Underated...He Can Flow in any style of offense...hits 3's...and is one of the best clutch shooters in the game..

I'd say someone who is underrated is someone like Rafael Palmeiro of the Orioles.....all he does is hit 30+ homers and drive in 100 rbi every year.....yet he has never been considered the best first baseman of his era.....and never will be.....his time is almost passed now, but he was a great player for a generation.....
