Tarver beat Roy Jones Jr., who is considered by many to be the best pound for pound boxer in the world.

Antonio Tarver's left hand out of nowhere stopped Roy Jones Jr. in the second round Saturday night, giving him the light heavyweight title and handing Jones the most crushing defeat of his illustrious career.

Tarver's KO left was his first show of power in either of his bouts with Jones.

Tarver had landed only a handful of punches and seemed slow in starting when Jones threw a right hand that missed that caused him to crouch down. Tarver came out of the crouch with a roundhouse left hand that caught Jones flush on the side of his face.

Jones was knocked under the ropes in Tarver's corner, and was badly hurt even though he managed to get up at about the count of seven. But he stumbled across the ring as referee Jay Nady waved the fight to an end at 1:41 of the second round.

I have to say that I'm stunned by this. I mean, not only did I think that Jones would beat him, but I didn't that that IF Tarver did beat him, it would be so early. I guess it kinda sucks that the ref called the fight, even though he was up by 7.

I heard boxing analysts saying that after Jones defeated Tarver, it would set up a fight with Klitchko, and then Mike Tyson. So not that the boxing world has been turned upside down, what does this do with the future of the sport, specifically that weight division?

Where does Jones go from here?

Well that is just fucked, I didn't think I'd see the day.

Ah well, it was gonna happen some day.

I think Jones will fight him again and knock his ass out. That's my prediction.

Where does Jones go From Here?...Tarver/Jones 3....No Doubt...Jones has to prove that it was a fluke...many people said Tarver beat him the 1st fight...now Tarver knocks him out...Jones has to beat Tarver..if he wants to stake his claim as the best pound for pound fighter in the world..

well, being a Roy Jones Jr. fan, I am shocked by the outcome.....Tarver basically threw one solid punch and down went Jones.....

this could only set up a future rematch for some big time money and may be something that that boxing world needs to regain some of it's past glory.....as I look back upon it, this could be a good thing for boxing because the next step for Jones was to face Tyson.....and that isn't what boxing needs.....

man, I looked forward to this fight but it was a shocking moment when it ended.....

Agreed, there would have been no way in hell Roy could have handled Mike, that would have just been a total disaster.

I'm hoping for a rematch although Roy doesn't seem to optimistic about it from what I've heard.

well, he sounded very much like a defeated man.....he has done very well with his outside investments and doesn't need to fight anymore.....but he may feel the need to vindicate himself as the "best pound for pound fighter".....I'd like to see a rematch because this wasn't two old out of shape fighters.....this was the perfect punch.....

Roy Vs. Mike...Shit..all Mike Would have to do is land one big punch...Roy Jones was being proclaimed as the man..who could take Lewis..who could Take Klitschko..How?..Because he Beat John Ruiz..The Most Boring...Non-Punching,Holding heavyweight,I've ever seen...Roy Got in way over his head...and maybe that one left hand from Tarver..will bring him back down to earth a little..
