Default Garrison Hearst signs with Broncos...

"Running back Garrison Hearst signed with the Denver Broncos on Thursday, hoping to bolster a backfield that lost Clinton Portis in a trade with Washington earlier this month.

The 11-year NFL veteran became a free agent after San Francisco released him last month.

Hearst started 12 games for the 49ers last season, rushing for 768 yards and three touchdowns and adding 211 yards and a score on 25 catches. He missed the rest of the season after injuring his knee Nov. 30.

A two-time Pro Bowl selection (1998, '01), Hearst has played in 119 career games. At 33, he is the only player in NFL history to win the league's Comeback Player of the Year award twice, being honored in 1995 and 2001.

He missed the 1999 and 2000 seasons with a severe left ankle injury but came back in 2001 to start 16 games and rush for 1,206 yards."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, he fills the void left by Clinton Portis, but is not nearly as good or as young Portis, but, as many of you think, Broncos have the type of system where the just run, run, and run, so, that should mean he should put up Portis-like numbers, right? If he can stay healthy, which he's had trouble doing recently, which is why San Francisco had like 3 running backs they alternated last year... anyways.

Your thoughts?

He'll do alright in their system but no chance in hell is he going to put up the same kind of numbers that Portis did.

I don't know if he can stay healthy either, and if he can even still perform well because of his injuries.

We'll just have to wait to find out.

Anybody can rush for 1,000 yrds in Denver........As long as they stay healthy. I don't know if Hearst can do that. Seems to me that he was born injured. I guess only time will tell.

As has already been said...He won't put up Portis Like Numbers...But Denver has the System to get him Good numbers...Possibly a Pro-Bowl Selection if he stays healthy...we'll see...

no way will hearst make probowl rb in the afc. He might be like 20th backup, but there are way too many better backs than him. Barlow carried the load in sf towards the end of the last 2 seasons. He should do ok. Hearst will be ok also, but I've a feeling he won't be starting and should have more of a mentor role for denvers rookie back. Hearst is impossible to keep healthy and i doubt they'll have him carry the team. Maybe they picked him up cheap.
