Default Seahawks sign Taylor

Eagles cornerback Bobby Taylor was looking for a chance to move west after he realized his days in Philadelphia were over.

He made the move Tuesday night by reaching a four-year, $11.3 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Included in the deal: a $3 million signing bonus and significant incentives.

The contract could become $16.8 million over four years. Taylor is gambling that he can make interceptions in the Seahawks defense. For leading the team in interceptions, Taylor could pocket more than $1 million in a season.

Taylor has intercepted 19 passes during his NFL career. He had five interceptions in 2002 for the Eagles and earned a spot in the Pro Bowl. Taylor, 30, is a tall cornerback at 6-3, 216 pounds who is especially good in man-to-man press coverage.

The Bengals were under consideration early in the free-agency process, but all along, Taylor said he was leaning toward the Seahawks. He wanted the opportunity to play for Seattle defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes, who was involved in drafting Taylor in 1995.

Taylor was a second-round choice by the Eagles in 1995 and comes to the Seahawks with nine seasons of starting experience. He replaces Shawn Springs, who left for the Washington Redskins during the first days of free agency.

Taylor's Philly teammate, Troy Vincent, signed with the Bills last week, breaking up one of the better cornerback tandems in the league.

Nope. But, this has been the off-season of the cornerback, there were like 8 Pro Bowl corners that were on the market this year, with only like half them switching teams... there was a cornerback that was traded in the David Boston deal, that might be what you're thinking about.

Anyways, I don't think Taylor is that great, but, he does have talent, so, he could bring something to that defense, but he has to stay healthy.

This really pisses me off. He called Jones and told him he would like to play for them. But once again, they didn't like the price tag. Oh well...
