Default Rod Strickland to... TORONTO?

"The Toronto Raptors signed veteran point guard Rod Strickland for the rest of the season on Friday and waived guard Jannero Pargo.

Strickland requested and received his release from the Orlando Magic earlier this month. He wanted the opportunity to sign with a playoff team.

Strickland averaged 6.8 points and four assists in 46 games for the Magic, who have the NBA's worst record."

Full story here.

Well... this guy wanted to be released to get a chance to join a team that was a playoff contender, he got that, Toronto is in the hunt, but, he overlooked one thing... he's still in the Eastern Conference! We all know he isn't gonna win over there... this was a big mistake... this will probably be his last year, yet he thinks Toronto could win it all, and his career will be complete? Yeah, there we go, Rod...

Your thoughts?

meh, not a bad idea to pick him up..... fine, he's got his baggage and all but really....

when their starters get healthy...... you can have Strickland and Glover come off the bench behind Jalen and Alvin........ if anything it adds some depth and some veteran presence.......

but the problem still remains that they still need a servicable big man up front.
It's a distinct possibility that Vin Baker might be coming to T.O. as well, as he ahs had meetings with Raptors brass and seemed excited to play with Vince Carter.......it does mean that likely Robert Archibald will be waived in order to sign Baker......

a decent pickup, but the wrong move irregardless......

man, i realize he was quite ineffective against the knicks the other day...... but man oh man did he look like gold today. i mean his numbers didn't pop out at you, but the way he ran the offence.....addressed a need that the Raps had been looking for all year.

that need? a true PG.

If they do stumble into the playoffs, i really think this guy is going to be a boon for them..... you know one last renaissance before he strides into the sunset, or some shite like that.

i honestly can't wait until Rose and Williams come back nice n' healthy for the playoffs......
