Default Clarett Skips on Scouts

NEW YORK (Reuters) - NFL hopeful Maurice Clarett was heavily criticized Friday after his decision to skip the chance to work out in front of coaches and scouts.

Clarett this month successfully challenged the NFL's draft ruling system forbidding a player to join a football team before he had either been out of high school for three years or completed three college seasons.

The legal victory was hailed as a landmark ruling, and sophomore Clarett, the former Ohio State University running back, said recently he would enter the NFL draft in April.

But although he turned up for the "combine" event in Indianapolis, Clarett told reporters he would not work out, saying he would invite scouts and coaches to a personal session in Columbus, Ohio in April.

"That's a farce," Buffalo Bills (news) general manager Tom Donahoe told the New York Daily News.

"(It's) ridiculous. You have immediate questions on what kind of shape he is in, why he's not prepared to work out. I don't see how that's good for him."

Clarett, who was suspended from playing last season at Ohio State, has not played competitively for 13 months.

Carolina Panthers (news) coach Jon Fox added: "If you're not ready to work out, you shouldn't.

"I don't know his readiness, but I know this: you have to be at your best to do this."

Clarett will be a second or third round draft pick at best, reports say.

"It's always your dream as a kid to be a number one pick," Clarett told reporters. "But that is beyond my control."

See dude... I was behind this guy through the whole NCAA suspension thing and what not... but this is kind of bullshit... he thinks he's so much better than everyone, he doesn't have to work at the combine... and can just go out and blow everyone away in the pre-draft scouting... I'm gonna laugh so hard when he gets picked in like the 3rd round because of his attitude.

But... he better work his ass off... and show the scouts more then they wanna see... because... now he's gonna get even more attention.

This is nothing new actually. Many surefire 1st rounders (such as Robert Gallery, Vince Wilfork and Eli Manning) don't do the combines, cause a poor combine can screw you over draft pick wise.

But this doesn't reflect on Mo Cee very well. He has to show that he is physically and more importantly mature to succeed in the NFL.

I still don't see why Maurice didn't say in College for one more year..I mean..Why not stay one more year,if only just to get some experience under your belt...I see a guy like Fitzgerald doing it..Because with the position he plays..He can make a quick impact in the nfk with his size and leaping ability...But I just don't know if Clarett can handle the NFL...We'll see...

LOL, what a dipshit. He'll be drafted, but when the team that drafts him sees him practice or whatever, he won't be starting. He'll probably just ride the bench for a few years. Oh well, serves the cocky bitch right
