Default ambidextrous

why are there no ambidextrous quarterbacks or pithers I think one as a quarterback would be a great asset if he performed well with both hands

Well it's very rare to see people with that ability and out of few that are Iím sure that many of them arenít athletes.

And even if there are some out there think of how small the chances are of that happening. The odds of anyone even making the pros are ridiculous, and given the small amount of people who are indeed ambidextrous those odds become even smaller.

I donít even know what Iím sayingÖ Iíll stop now.

there have been three pitchers in the major leagues that were ambidextrous.....the last one pitched for the Phillies.....his first name was Steve, but i can't remember his last name.....he even had a glove that was made for both hands.....but he wasn't in the league very long.....Bochtler was his last name, i think.....

Kordell Stewart threw with both hands for a couple of years in college, but he was predominantly right handed and his coaches determined it best if he just threw with the right......

it mostly comes off as nothing more than a gimmick, especially for qb's.....the offensive line has to know which way to block, and the spin off the ball is different, so it is more difficult for the receivers.....

good thought though, Syn.....it would be pretty cool if someone could actually make it work.....

I'd say it's because athletes will work on being able to use one throwing arm to the best of their ability ... rather than being able to use both arms averagely.

Also what oeo said ... the change of the spin would make it difficult for the person recieving the pass.

Mike Vick is ambidextrous. There's a story from his days at VT that he stood in the basketball gym, threw a ball from the back wall to the opposite net and hangs the net. Then he walks to half court, throws with his right hand, and hangs the net again.

True story.
