I've got a friend, Justin, who was driving his truck along the interstate with his stepdad, with another friend of mine, Joel, driving behind him. They're driving along and Justin ends up hitting a patch of black ice. His back tires had pretty much no weight on them, so once they started sliding there really wasn't anything Justin could do. He ended up swerving off the freeway and started to roll over several times before finally coming to a stop in a ditch next to the freeway. Somehow Justin, even though his truck's cab basically imploded on him, climbed out after the wreck and started walking around. His step dad did basically the same thing and fared better than him.

Here's a picture.

Kinda freaky that he came so close to death and yet walked away more or less unharmed. Actually he told me later while we were looking at where he crashed that he climbed out and went, "man fuck this". Said the paramedics and firefighters were just looking at him in awe and were saying things like "you climbed out of THAT?". A lot told him he should be dead.

So anyway, have any of you had a similar experiance or have lost a close friend?

Almost put my truck into a small lake...probably would have lived...still kinda fucked with me.

Glad your friend is ok....by the looks of it he's a lucky SOB.

during my EMT training, they hit a patient with the defib and I wasn't completely clear.

The charge stopped my heart....thankfully the defib was already there and they could zap me back.

....

During my electrical apprenticeship, I was installing a dishwasher and some dumb fuck flipped the breaker back on and hit me with a couple hundred volts....knocked me on my ass and I think I lost some time.

....

While I was in my First Responder class, we were practicing taking each other's pulse...my partner was taking my pulse. Last thing I remember was him saying " Thats weird....hey are you....."
Next thing I know I was on a gurney and had a couple paramedics standing over me including my instructor.
He told me later that he had been completely unable to find any pulse for a few minutes and I was completely unresponsive to everything they tried.
They have no idea what happened or why.....they also had no idea how or why I woke back up.

....

When I was in my early 20s, I mixed a bottle of Jagermeister and a bottle of Nyquil....I drank the whole damn thing.

I woke up a day and a half later with absolutely no idea that had happened
....

I'll come back and post the shit that has happened to me in a car in a little bit

I almost spun my truck into a detention cell full of water, thankfully there was a fire hydrant and 2 poles in my way. That still messes with my head, it was last summer.

I had a migraine one night, and by accident took a Oxycontin instead of a normal painkiller. It took me 3 days to get over it, I was hallucinating, had a fever, had trouble breathing, drifted in and out of consciousness, and didn't know where I was. I didn't go to hospital but I damn sure know I could have died.

When I was a baby we lived in a house that had kinda like 2 stories but no first story, so there was a big area underneath the house, a large fence type thing that separated one area to the other fell on me and missed all of me except it cut me in a straight line right between my eyes, I still have the scar, and apparently I was very lucky.

When I was kid we were driving home from Ayres Rock in the middle of the night, we hit a cow and had a pretty nasty accident, the whole front of the car was smashed in and the cow pretty much exploded everywhere.

That's all I can think of.

Summer of 2000. Friend of mine, in a drunken stupor, drove the two of us off a 40 foot cliff going 70 mph. Missed a telephone pole by about a yard. No injuries...at least for me.

The airbag deployed into his face, breaking several teeth and generally rearranging things for a while. Some dental work, Neosporin and a few weeks later he was fine.

Since then I typically drink alone, at home.

Chances are better than not that any girlfriend they've ever had cheated on them multiple times, probably right in front of them, laughing at their pitiful punk asses the whole time while they sat there and cried. If you or someone you know has been caused grief by an "Internet Bully" then you and/or that person is nothing but a little punk ass bitch, and the world would be a better, more manly place if you'd just jump off a fucking bridge already. Late.

When I had my accident, my seatbelt kept me from going into the airbag.

I guess my accident could be classified as a near death experience. My car was completely fucked up, but I walked away unscathed thankfully.
