Default Marinade

When you grill chicken or steak....do use any marinade?

How long do you let it marinade? what do you use?

I personally use a dark beer like a Guiness or a dark Sam Adams for steaks and sausages.

Tequilla or Italian dressing for chicken...

when possible, I marinade overnight.....the food is so much better for it.

I normally buy a bottle of store brand marinade and soak it over night. Everything you mentioned above sounds Yummy though !

Italian dressing for steaks or london broil. Usually let it marinade overnight. Not really big on marinating chicken. Most people I know use either soy sauce or teriyaki sauce for chicken but I am not a big fan of them.

I marinade the shit out of everything. At the game last week, I marinaded chicken in teryaki sauce over night, then grilled it up with some grilled onions, grilled pineapple slices, some mustard and quasi-japanese guacamole and served it up on toasted foccacia rolls. Not bad for a tailgaiter.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. When it comes to the grill, a lot of times you can accomplish with a dry rub or combination of herbs and spices exactly what you can with a good marinade...sometimes you can do better.

I like to make my own marinades and I like to experiment. I'm not really big on store bought marinades.
