Default Mmkay, what generally happens when someone gets promoted or someone quits?

So yeah, lots of people here have jobs or have had jobs and the such. I want everyone's opinion on what happens, or should happen when one person gets promoted up, or a person quits, or a person transfers toa different location. I'm not referring to the person that gets promoted really, but their job duties and such.

I'll explain why I'm asking this after I get a few replies.

It all depends on the type of job. Some places can function without 1 person and others can not. Your question is too broad so my answer to it will be.

Either you pick up the slack or nothing changes.

Ok, well, when I first started we had five guys in our department and now we're down to two. The first guy was promoted, and they had been planning it for weeks, maybe even a couple months. The second guy transfered to a location in another state, but he gave this location his two weeks. The third guy just got promoted, it's been in the works for months. All this time and they haven't found any replacements for any of them.

By the way, your second statement makes no sense. If we pick up the slack and get it done, then nothing will change because they'll see we can get it done. So yeah, maybe if don't pick up the slack, they'll actually hire someone

Well, where I work, we lost one person permanently to illness, a new hire who was supposed to help ease my burdens on my shift just up and walked out in the middle of a shift (something that NEVER happens at this corporation and something that moron will be regretting in three years when he's a McManager wondering what the fuck he's done with his life. ) which makes my life hell.

But anyway, what they're doing is just hiring motherfuckers up. We got three new hires. It takes about three months to get them up and running and eight months to get them to speed. I am mired in The Struggle until that chain of events is at least halfway complete.

I wish you luck in your struggle, brother. Wa-laikum Salaam.

Late.

If you or someone you know has been caused grief by an "Internet Bully" then you and/or that person is nothing but a little punk ass bitch, and the world would be a better, more manly place if you'd just jump off a fucking bridge already. Late.

Well, with my work study for my school it's not so much a promotion as being older. When I was in 8th grade I would work diligently, but now when I have a job I can stand there and bullshit with the janitor or a teacher and no one will say anything.

I usually quit or get fired before getting promoted. In my industry, the only way to move up is to move out.

It makes perfect sense. If you don't pick up any slack you are still working at the same speed as before.

If you have to pick up the slack then you are working harder

Don't rely on not doing work to force them to hire someone. They may fire you and replace you with a newbie that gets paid less and is glad to take up the slack.
