Default Considering Mother's Day

Has anyone considered what their mother's might have been like as people before they were mothers?

After I realized what kind of people my parents were before they had children it was very easy to see that they had truely tried their best.

Happy Mother's Day to all those who are great at being a mom as well as to all those who truely try their best.

My parents are my heroes and the people i'd always look up to...even though my mom always said "don't get me anything" or "don't waste your money on me"...i always try to get her something even though it might be just a necklace with a heart saying "I love you mom" or something cheesy like that...

I find it hard to imagine my mom not being a, well, mom. She had her first daughter at 19 and another a few years later. It was another 16 years or so until I came along.
Since she is older, things were a lot different when she was a girl. She lived in a very small house with her parents and 3 siblings and I honestly don't think she had enough room to truly find out who she was. I believe her kids helped her find herself, we've always been her passion and she'd do anything for us. She's been a great mother and friend and I treasure Mother's Day and every other day that I have her in my life.

My parents lives pretty much sucked before they had kids. It sucked substantially after that as well, but at least they weren't living day to day anymore. My parents just had their 45th anniversary. They were married very young. I guess my mom was like any other teenager in socal during the 60's. A freakin hippie

my mum and dad married in they're 20's, knew each other for years and then when they got married it all changed..but they partied alot & did drugs before we were born... mum settled down a little but not my dad...

I really don't think they were cut out for parenthood but they did what they could for us.

My mom had a very hard life. She had my brothers & sister when she was very young with a man whom violently beat her. I know that it is a 50/50 effort to have a child, but the life that followed was not. He is dead now, my mother moved to this neck of the woods and met my Dad, 3 years later I was born, my sibs changed their last names so I would not know that in truth we were only half by biology.

My father was a third generation farmer & fisherman from a small town (pop. under 200 at the time), my work ethic and morals come directly from him, with a dash of Devnosity in just for flair.

My mother is the rock that our family is built on, and my father is structure upon that rock.

I lived in a very poor household, when the dairy and fishing went to hell things became very tight around my home, my parents would often go without so us kids could have, rolling pennies up to pay the house note, it was not until I was in my twenties before I realized the sacrifices my parents made for me.

I never felt like I did without.

Dev,

That's is about how it happened to me. It's like when you were a tiny kid everything is super, then you become a teenager and through friends you find out what you are missing... or so I thought.

In my twenties (I am only 21), I realized that although I might not have had everything or even things I really needed and sometimes that was bad decision making on my parents fault; my parents are just not smart or emotionally healthy enough to have done a better job.

And I truely understand now that even though they weren't good parents they did TRY their BEST and they did ALWAYS love me.

My mother had a meager but loving upbringing. She speaks of her parents and brother, all of whom have passed, with nothing but fondness. Everyone in my family has worked very hard for what they have, and they have all had the grounding to remain thankful for the ability to do so.

Late.

If you or someone you know has been caused grief by an "Internet Bully" then you and/or that person is nothing but a little punk ass bitch, and the world would be a better, more manly place if you'd just jump off a fucking bridge already. For Mother's day I honored my Mommy Marg (I adopted her last year). We gardened all day on friday and I gave her a huge colored in by me poster of unicorns. It was so much fun.
I called my step-mom and all my sisters. Out of 5, I am the only one who hasn't had one. Though I admit that they are not my blood sisters at all., but I love them.
And today I talked to my birth mom and we talked for an hour and I cried for probably 45 minutes of that, because I realize how wonderful she truely is, even if she couldn't take care of me right. I had the best Mother's Day that I have ever had so far.
