Buddy the nature boy Rogers! in 1953 by defeating Antonino Rocca. They said it was only a rumor or legend that the match happened in Brazil or Argentina I don't know...

According to WWE.COM the very first WWWF champion was Buddy Rogers.

Buddy Rogers / Antonino Rocca- Rio de Janeiro 04-29-63
Bruno Sammartino / Buddy Rogers -New York, NY 05-17-63
Source(s):WWE

In 1979, the WWWF changed it's name to the WWF. At the time, Bob Backlund became the first WWF champion
