Default NWE Friday Night Smackdown: Episode 17: Rate and Review + BQ?

We open with a video package, recapping the major events that happened on Smackdown last week, including the announcement that Christian will defend his World Championship at SummerSlam in a Triple Threat match against John Cena and Edge. We are welcomed live to ringside with Matt Striker and Joey Styles and they review the updated SummerSlam card. Five matches have been announced so far. The main event tonight will be a 20 Man Battle Royal with the winner becoming No.1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.

CM Punk's music plays and he comes out to the ring, with Mercury and Gallows by his side. He says that Big Show has really helped them out a lot against The New Bloods over the last couple of weeks and as of tonight, Big Show is the newest member of the Straightedge Society. Show's music plays and he comes out to join his new stablemates. The arena goes dark, which usually signifies the arrival of The New Bloods. The lights come back on and there is a brawl happening inside the ring. Mason Ryan, Richie Steamboat, Mike DiBiase and Austin Watson are battling it out with the SES and security have to come to the ring and restrain all eight men.

Teddy Long's music plays and he comes out to the entrance ramp. He says that he has seen enough of the gang warfare crap that has been going on in the company recently and it must all come to a head at SummerSlam. He announces that The SES will take on Ryan, Steamboat, DiBiase and Watson in an eight man tag team match at the pay per view. If The New Bloods lose, they must leave the company forever. If the SES lose, they must disband and continue with their singles careers.

Match 1: The Uso's vs Black Domination (Zeke and Shad).

Good tag team action here to kick us off. They go back and forth at the start, but The Uso's eventually pick up the deserved victory. Jey Uso pins Zeke Jackson for the win, around the 7 minute mark.

Match 2: Mason Ryan vs Big Show.

Singles match between two of them that will face off at SummerSlam. It's also Mason Ryan's first singles match since his debut. Ryan puts up a good effort, but Show proves too strong in the end. He hits a Chokeslam on Ryan and pins him for the victory.

Match 3: Edge vs Ted DiBiase.

Best match of the night so far. DiBiase is in control at the start of the contest, but Edge gets himself back into it and they exchange some offense. DiBiase ends up picking the surprise victory over The Rated R Superstar, dodging a Spear and hitting Dream Street for the victory, around the 10 minute mark.

Match 4: Randy Orton vs Alberto Del Rio.

Another good match. Orton ends up picking up a fairly straightforward win, hitting an RKO on Del Rio and pinning him for the victory, around the 8 minute mark.

Match 5: 20 Man Over The Top Rope Battle Royal.

We are reminded that the winner of this match will be new No.1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship. Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, Tyson Kidd, D.H Smith, MVP, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Caylen Croft, Trent Barretta, Chris Masters, Cody Rhodes, Rey Mysterio, Goldust, Kaval, JTG, Chavo Guerrero, Primo, R-Truth and William Regal are the participants. The match progresses quite slowly and only a few eliminations are made at the start. Primo, Croft and Barretta are eliminated first, followed by Chavo, JTG, Kidd and Cody Rhodes. William Regal gets eliminated by Drew McIntyre, who then eliminates Kaval right after it. We are down to 11 superstars and things are hotting up. R-Truth and Chris Masters are eliminated by Jericho and Hardy. MVP eliminates Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler. Chris Jericho eliminates D.H Smith and Goldust, bringing us down to the final five superstars. Jericho, Hardy, McIntyre, MVP and Rey Mysterio remain. McIntyre is the first one to be eliminated from the five, with Hardy throwing him over the top rope. Rey Mysterio tries to eliminate Hardy, but ends up being thrown over the top rope by MVP. Jericho, MVP and Hardy remain. They circle each other, trying to make the breakthrough. Hardy is eventually eliminated by Jericho and we are down to the final two. Jericho vs MVP and the winner goes to SummerSlam. The end comes when MVP tries to throw Jericho out, but he holds on before his feet touch the bottom. Jericho is standing on the apron and flips MVP over his head and Jericho is declared the winner. He will face Del Rio at SummerSlam for the Intercontinental Championship.
