Only he God will ever know. He had parts of his brain rotted away from tons of concussions, steroid usage, he was drunk off his a$$, and pissed off as hell.

I hate to diss Chris Benoit, but he probably blacked out and accidently killed Nancy. Then he realized what he did so he killed his son and then killed himself so he wouldn't go to prison. Whats messed up is that he could have went to the show after he killed them and gotten away with it. The plane passes would have been evidence that he didn't kill them. RIP Benoit Family

Rage. He probably wasn't thinking straight until he finished killing his wife and kid, then he decided to take his own life, after realizing what he had did. I don't think he was a monster, and what he did, damn sure wasn't acceptable but the guy was mentally unstable, due to a combination of roids and damages to the head.

He looks insane here, he looks like he was abusing something :

And he had a seizure doing it. He suffered from trying to entertain...

That he didn't give a shyt. He was suffering so he was going to make others suffer as well. Then after realizing what he had done he was too cowardly to face it so he took his own life....but not before he put a bible next to his DEAD son so he could feel better about what he'd done or convince ppl he was a good guy after all just troubled.

Cris Benoit and his wife had arguments about their mentally retarded son(who should be a stay-at-home parent). Chris Benoit was on steroids. He took his his anger out when he killed his wife, his son the next night, then himself the next day.

No one knows what went on. Only speculation. None of us were there. There are only 4 beings that know what happened.Chris, Nancy, Daniel and GOD. And that is all I am going to say on that matter.

Rest in Peace Chris, Nancy and Daniel.

We will never know. The only person who did, is dead.

I can speculate what might have going through his mind, based on what I know of the man.

Chris was always small. He wanted to be a pro wrestler so much that it became an obsession. He idolized the Dynamite Kid and patterned his life after him. The Kid was small, too, but he compensated by taking enough steroids to kill a horse (Tom Billington, the Dynamite Kid, is very open about his steroid use and abuse and what it did to his body). Benoit followed suit. The Kid went out of his way to prove he was the toughest ever, by doing crazy stunts in the ring. So did Benoit. Benoit's obsession with being the best pro wrestler ever took him through Stu Hart's infamous Dungeon and through the equally torturous New Japan Dojo, infamous for humiliating and abusing new students. Benoit's obsession also caused him to severely punish himself for any mistakes he thought he made, and that punishment involved pushing his body until he collapsed.

Benoit was a loner, a private person, who didn't make friends easily. His wife was the opposite. Nancy was extroverted, made friends easily, and was usually the life of the party. And she didn't like Chris' obsession with the wrestling business. Especially the steroids. She urged him many times to get real help because the WWE's wellness policy is a joke. Not just for the steroids but also for the strong pain medication he was addicted to because of the injuries he'd accumulated over the course of his career due to his stiff and sometimes reckless wrestling style.

Benoit didn't make friends easily. He did have a small handful of close friends (all wrestlers), especially his long-time best friend, Eddie Guerrero. In the space of about two years, he lost all of those friends. Chris blamed the wrestling business for killing them. All of his close friends died, one after the other, in a short period of time, and they died young (all from drug-related problems). Chris never recovered from the loss of Eddie, his closest friend in the world, his confidante, his advisor, his spiritual coach, his brother. That tribute Chris made for Eddie at the tribute show was straight from Chris' soul and was as real as it gets; that was a man who's SOUL was in crippling pain. Chris was most likely suffering from deep depression (a real illness) because of losing his closest friends; he was addicted to drugs; he was abusing steroids which was damaging his body (and he couldn't afford to stop using them fearing he would shrink too much and he wouldn't be the rabid wolverine anymore); his brain was basically Swiss cheese from the chair shots and diving headbutts for 20 years. Nancy knew he needed serious professional help but she couldn't force him to get that help. The WWE (or at least the McMahons) knew Chris wasn't right but chose not to push him to get help (likely fearing another steroids scandal). All of this combined to make Chris Benoit one very screwed-up person who need some serious and immediate professional help.

Whether or not this was the straw that broke the camel's back we'll never know, but Nancy wanted a divorce, mostly because Chris WAS so screwed-up and depressed, and refused to get help.

So, we are left with two possibilities, I think:

Chris, after losing his closest friends one after the other, couldn't take another hit like that (losing his wife and son), so he chose to kill them and himself so he wouldn't have to suffer the pain of losing them.

Or...

He felt trapped in a business that had killed his closest friends, a business he no longer enjoyed but was still obsessed about being the best at, and chose to move his family to someplace new the wrestling business couldn't reach (heaven; remember, Chris was not in his right mind; he was nowhere near sane and rational at the end). This MIGHT explain the bibles left near the bodies.

Personally, I tend to believe the first possibility. That he had suffered so much loss in such a short time that he wasn't willing to face another one and he chose to avoid it in the most permanent way possible.
