Shawn Michaels because he wasn't incomplete.

He had the looks, ability and everything.

Ric Flair turned into a red chicken on the mic.

Shawn Michaels. HBK could adapt to whoever he was wrestling. Didn't matter if he was technical, big, small, high flyer, whatever. He was always adjusting his style.

Flair does the same thing every match. Irish whip, head over heels on the turnbuckle, run to the other side, climb the rope, opponent grabs Flair on the top rope, Flair shakes his head no, opponent flings Flair off the top rope. Oh, and don't forget the chops, dizzy walk, front face FLOP(although admittedly, I mark out every time he does that). Flair is too predictable.

ric flair. he was the blueprint of what shawn michaels became. hbk is a modern-day ric flair. flashy, arrogant, great at playing a babyface but even better at playing a heel character. they both have fairly basic move sets and their movement inside of the ring are almost mirror images of one another.

Because both Flair and Michaels had no weaknesses as performers, this one comes down to maturity and professionalism.

In the ring both could have great matches with anybody. Both were excellent at making their opponents look awesome. Flair gets the nod at promos because he was better than just about everybody at putting his opponents over on the mic.

Charisma, mic skills, ring skills, selling, you name it, Flair and Michaels are two of the best ever.

The difference is maturity and professionalism. The NWA put their World Title on Flair so many times because they knew they could trust him to represent that Title and the NWA as a true professional, all over the world; they knew they could trust him to uphold the honor and prestige of the NWA and it's World Title all over the world. The NWA World Champ worked independent of any particular promotion, traveling around to various promotions all over the country and in other countries, representing the NWA. Flair showed the maturity and professionalism of a true Champion from the very beginning of his career.

Shawn didn't, until the latter part of his career. Shawn is one of the all-time greats, but his childish, often hurtful, behavior coupled with his notoriety as a backstage politician put a serious hurt on his reputation. That 4-5 year gap in his career (the back injury) made a lot of people pretty much forget what Shawn used to be like and it took a few more years after he returned for him to earn the respect he should have had from the beginning if not for his immaturity.

This is not to say that Flair was a choir boy his whole career; he is as egotistical and as much a spotlight-hog as any pro wrestler but he always has the best interests of the promotion he's working for at heart.

In the ring, Shawn was a little more versatile than Flair, a little more spectacular.

On the mic, Flair has few peers (Shawn isn't one of them).

Ring psychology, they are even.

Selling, they are even.

Charisma, Flair had the edge. Watch him work a crowd in the 80's. Only Hogan could match that.

The aura and attitude of a World Champ, Flair was The Man.Maturity and professionalism, Flair always had that. Shawn didn't until nearly 40 years old.

If there is one man who can be called the total package (inside the ring and out) in pro wrestling, that's Ric Flair.
