Because WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) could sue them for showing them, that's why they changed from WWF to WWE.

So that they won't get sued again by the world wildlife foundation. It is because of them that WWE had to change their name because the world wild...... had already copyrighted the initials WWF, and their logo was WF

WWE no longer has the right to use the WWF logo or anything that refrences to the attitude era. WWE cant even say WWF on TV , they had to change the WWF logo on all their videogames and all these other things

Because they could get sued by the world wildlife fund that shares the same initials as em that's why WWE had to change name in the first place

World Wildlife Fund forced WWF to change because they couldn't use the logo in certain countries or something. So they don't get sued,WWE will either edit the WWE logo into an old video or blure it out.Copyright is why they have to censor it.

In 2000, the World Wide Fund for Nature (also WWF), an environmental organization, sued the World Wrestling Federation. The Law Lords agreed that Titan Sports had violated a 1994 agreement which had limited the permissible use of the WWF initials overseas, particularly in merchandising. Both companies used the initials since March 1979. The last televised event to market the WWF logo was UK based PPV Insurrextion 2002. On May 5, 2002, the company launched its Get The F Out marketing campaign and changed all references on its website from WWF to WWE, while switching the URL from WWF.com to WWE.com. The next day, a press release announced the official name change from World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. to World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., or WWE, and the change was publicized later that day during a telecast of Monday Night Raw, which emanated from the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

The company had also been ordered by the Lords to stop using the old WWF Attitude logo on any of its properties and to censor all past references to WWF, as they no longer owned the trademark to the initials WWF in 'specified circumstances'. Despite litigation, WWE is still permitted use of the original WWF logo, which was used from 1984 through 1994, as well as the New WWF Generation logo, which was used from 1994 through 1998. Furthermore, the company may still make use of the full World Wrestling Federation and World Wrestling Federation Entertainment names without consequence.

@The Bad Guy Razor Ramon - It would be nice if you put Wikipedia as your source.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_W...t#Name_dispute

Read under Name Dispute section.

Anyways, they can only blur out the WWF Scratch logo and the one that had the blue box in the background. But as far as the 80's WWF logo, i think they can only use it for history purposes such as flashbacks. World Wildlife Fund FORCED World Wrestling Federation to change the name because of the WWF initials which was first used by World Wildlife Fund, then used by World Wrestling Federation and it was against the law to use the WWF initials after the Wildlife Fund first used it. So, on May 5, 2002- what was known to be WWF is now WWE.

Because at some point in the 80's Vince agreed to limit the use of the WWF letters in global promotion... before that the company was WWWF

later During the 90's Vince Violated the agreement and as such was required on 2002 by the court to not use the WWF letter combo in any way... that is why WWF became WWE

and part of the deal for whatever reason included that the 'WWF Scratch Logo and any Verbal references to WWF had to be blurred and muted respectively... how ever World Wrestling Federation ws allowed to remain as it spelled out the full company name....

so you are in fact wrong it was NOT the World Wildlife Fund that Made WWF/E do anything it was the courts based on Vince's own actions

and they only stated that Vince could not use the Initialism WWF any more... He was wholly free to keep using the name World Wrestling Federation... they just wouldn't have been allowed to speak/print the WWF as such... he could have just as easily booked WCW to win the Invasion, or had the superstars call the company the Fed... because by the mid 90s the company's legal name was WWFE: World Wrestling Federation Entertainment... and it was only that Wrestling events were booked under the WWF name
