Hulk Hogan Vince pretty much based the WWF around him

I would say Hulk Hogan. He was a household name and sold WWE(F) to many people back when it was first making it's mark. Good question.

Hulk Hogan without a doubt, that's were WWF got most of its main-stream success and revenue, was through Hogan during his peak in the 80's.

Hulk Hogan for sure, however I also feel that some of the heel's were just as highly important .. think of Sgt Slaughter, Ted Dibiase, Perfect etc... without the heel's you couldn't create no hero's.

However if you had to choose one person, it would be the Hulkster, though he wasn't a favorite of mine (I love Bret, Tornado, Tito, Martel, Piper, Dibiase, Warlord, Barbarian so on so forth) it has to be said that he was definitely the most pushed Wrestler star of that time, which hasn't really been replaced in the same light.

They tried making Luger into the new 'Real American' too however it never really had the same impact, not really replaceable.
