Default How does a WWE live even get recorded as two tapings?

For instance, tonight's edition of WWE Raw on 8/16/10 was recorded live, and then they recorded another show for the following Raw episode. I'm wondering how that occurs. Does the audience watch two recordings? Or, are they just two separate shows? Once the first episode ends, the current audience leaves, the arena is closed then reopened for another wave of 20,000 people.

I want to know because this is different because its Raw, the flagship show thats supposed to be live. I know Smackdown and Superstars are one live event since, Superstars is only a 1 hour show on television and Smackdown isn't recorded live for TV.

they probably end the first show, take a break and then do the 2nd show. i doubt they have a new audience that would waste time. smackdown is not recorded live because they stopped doing that once they moved to friday nights. they probably thought it would be a good idea to record NXT and Smackdown together so they have more time for events and house shows.

They just pretty much start filming on the next show after a quick break, from what I know and heard. For the west coast, since they have to start Raw on 6 in the afternoon (or 5 if its a 3 hour show), any recordings they have to do, they will do it after Raw. For the east coast, it just goes in reverse (they will tape whatever they have to tape 30 minutes before Raw starts, be it a 8 or 9pm start.

WWE Does Raw live then after it's off the air, they film the next showing, believe me I've been to a lot of WWE shows. For smackdown they do NXT live then after its done they film Smackdown but air it on friday.
