Is Roddy Piper the epitome of the fact that you DON'T need a world title to be considered great?

Despite the fact that Roddy has never held a world title, he's still considered to be one of the best by some.

So my question is this:

Do you think that a world title is necessary for someone to be known as one of the greats in this day and age of wrestling?

A ton of people complain saying that so and so needs a title shot when that very superstar can possibly be just as good without it.

Somewhat. One could say Andre the Giant can also be a good example (let's scratch his reign that was nothing more than a part of a storyline in which Ted DiBiase Sr. tried to get the World Title), Curt Henning could be an example, there are lots of examples.

But in this day and age, with title changes happening at much more frequent occurrences than 20 years ago or so, if you are great, and you can work your way through some of the bullsh!t that can occur, yeah, winning a title means you are a great, otherwise, you more than likely need to win the gold.
