...promotions are..? overlooked?

The WWE is considered 'the place' to be in wrestling, and pretty much always has been that way since the mid 80s (aside from the few years WCW was on top). When someone is in the WWE, that is considered what they are known for best, whatever character they portray in WWE, that becomes who they are and always were to fans. But alot of these guys were perhaps bigger stars (if they were midcarders or jobbers in the WWF) in other areas, or may of had completely different or even at times BETTER characters in the other areas than the WWF.

People remember Paul Bearer most for being Takers manager (and later managed others like Vader, Kane, and Foley). But Bearer had a very long and successful career prior to the Bearer character as Percy Pringle III, managing many top heels in Texas and feuding with the Von Erichs. He was also big in Alabama and Memphis, and was completely different from the morbid Bearer character and was more like a colorful cocky heel like the Grand Wizard.

Koko B Ware is another example. A babyface jobber to the stars in the WWF but in Memphis was a pretty boy cocky heel and was a main eventer challenging Lawler for the USWA title and also teamed with Norvell Austin as the 'Pretty Young Things', but many never knew it (some still don't).

Who are some of yours and explain the difference between there WWE character and there character in others promotions

Evan Bourne. People will always remember him in WWE, but to me his indy time as Matt Sydal was much, MUCH better.

Matt Sydal destroys Evan Bourne, but sadly people will always overlook that character.
