Some say it was even a heel turn but it didn't work































What was the point behind it? I kind of liked it

I think you might be thinking of around 96, and not 99































It was a planned heel turn, however, many fans did not go for it, not seeing JR as any kind of heel. After the week they tried JR as a heel, they ditched it with no mention of him becoming a heel whatsoever.
