Do you agree with the thought of 'If you've seen one match, you've seen them all'?

Default Do you agree with the thought of 'If you've seen one match, you've seen them all'?

When you think about it, it's kind of true. We've pretty much seen every move you can see in wrestling. Each and every single wrestling match in every promotion, the indies, WWE, TNA, ROH ect. all have the same moves. Irish whip. Suplex. Bodyslam. Chop. DDT. Dropkick. Running the ropes. Moonsault ect.

I don't think anyone can name a wrestling move they have not seen. It's just done by different guys.

BQ: If you agree with the notion that 'if you've seen one match you've seen them all', because you're guaranteed to see alot of the moves you saw in the previous match, do you agree that is why the entertainment aspect of wrestling is also important, such as segments, interviews, vignettes ect.?

Well yeah now. Wrestling now is pathetic. They might do new things during the 50 commercials they take DURING each match

I agree that if you have seen one Cena match, you have seen them all.

The entertainment aspect is definetly important. The moves you see a lot build the match, then you have a couple high spots in the match that make it interesting that you don't see everyweek. The entertainment parts fill in the interesting parts.

Yes it true. If you seen one hardcore match with light tubes, tables, tacks, glass, bats, etc you seen it all. The only difference is the quality of the worker......this is where workrate matters. Is said wrestler has ZERO selling skills than why watch more than one match of theirs?

WWE = 5 moves of doom

TNA = silly bizarro ending that doesn't make any sense but is done only to further the angle which has no actual ending

indy hardcore = bum fights

ROH = handshake then 40 minutes of awesomeness then handshake

AAA = extreme lucha and pandering to the crowd with annoying announcers

CMLL = photo-op with championship belt and commish and contenders then one quick caida, maybe a mask pull, then 20 minutes of awesomeness to end the match.

NOAH = slow start to build up anticipation then a few spots to get a crowd reaction for a 2 count then maybe another spot so the women in the audience can yell their favorite wrestlers name then a fell more false finishes.....repeat the same spot 5 times then end with a LARIATO or EXPLODAH or DRIVAH....the match last bare minimum of 30 minutes.

Entertainment aspect is only important if said segments look professional and/or natural. Character development is important but it has to be done right otherwise it would be laughable bad as if it was a Redneck Blue Collar Tour video....you might be a redneck if blah blah blah blah here is your sign blah blah blah blah give me more whiskey blah blah blah blah git r done blah blah blah.

Disagree. Emotion is a huge factor that plays into wrestling matches. There's a difference between seeing a great non-title ROH Match on their weekly show than seeing HBK vs Taker/Streak vs Career. Some wrestlers are truly gifted and have mastered and use different, new, and innovative moves in their matches. Plus, due to the scripted element of Pro Wrestling, the match can end any way the bookers want it to. A match between John Cena and Randy Orton on RAW could end with KENTA running down the ramp in a tuxedo, Kicking everyone in the head, then make lemonade in the ring. Do you see the point I'm getting at? Almost all matches are different in their own ways.

BUT, When you are watching a match from a particular promotion, there is a sense in what to expect, as the user above me noted.

BQ: Now that is true. What would Pro Wrestling be without the segments and promos? It's a way to promote superstars, so that when they DO Get in the ring, it's NOT just another match.

Disagree.

The 'If you've seen one match, you've seen them all' theory only applies to Ric Flair.

Every one of Ric Flair's matches reek of similarity. For over 30 years it was the same thing over over again.Chops, flip over turnbuckle and beg for mercy.

This theory also applies to a football game.Run,toss, catch and score/tackle.
