Default Did USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship had a status of a World Title?

I know USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship was formed in 1988 which consisted of WCWA World Heavyweight Championship from WCCW and AWA World Heavyweight Championship from AWA also i saw on Wikipedia that it was a professional wrestling World Heavyweight Championship

So i want to know that doesn't every AWA World Heavyweight Champion was considered as a World champion plus this title has WCWA World Title which makes it more prestigious the reason why i am asking this is because i just saw a fact and that is people say Owen Hart has never had been a World Champion but he was won this title in 1993 and since i am a huge Owen Hart fan i want to know does this make him a World Champion

Please answer this only if you have knowledge about Pro Wrestling and Please i have a request no rude comments or spam Thankyou

THE BOTTOM LINE!!! is on a distinguished road
Default

Before the internet craze, a Heavyweight Title was considered a World Title depending on the size and popularity of the company, and how often they traveled around the world. A magazine called Pro Wrestling Illustrated was very influential as to what title was considered a World title.

Saying this, the USWA Unified Heavyweight Championship, was never considered a World Title..or having World status. Neither was the WCWA, or the WCCW title considered a World title. By the time the USWA had the Unified title, WCCW was not a big company anymore...and the USWA was an Independent company, it was not a huge wrestling company.

So no, the USWA Unified title was never considered an actual World title...so Owen Hart has never been a World Champion. Smaller wrestling companies put the word World in front of their titles to make their Heavyweight titles seem like it has meaning, which is why you hear even some Independent titles called World titles, but technically they are NOT World Titles.

In 1993, the only World Titles were the WWF World Heavyweight Championship, and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

As far as the AWA Title goes, it WAS a World Title. The AWA World Heavyweight Championship is one of the most prestigious titles there's been in wrestling. The AWA was a big wrestling company at one point, it had more popularity than the WWF at one point in the late 70's to a part of the early 80's.

The AWA title was NEVER unified with the USWA title though..the USWA title was the WCCW and CWA, a company from Memphis, titles being Unified.

The AWA was still around until 1990, and they still had their title. But at the end of the AWA, it did lose World title status before it closed down. The AWA title was a World Title, and the wrestlers who held that belt are considered former World Champions...but it was never part of the USWA Unified title, that was the CWA and the WCWA titles being unified to form the USWA.

So to clear it up, the AWA was it's own title until the AWA closed down in 1990. WCCW started their Heavyweight title and it was called the WCWA title, and CWA had their belt. WCCW and the CWA unified their belts, but the AWA title was always it's own title....and was not part of the unification of the belts.
