Default Why does everyone have to be the 'next' someone?

Randy Orton is the next Austin. Morrison is the next HBK. Danielson is the next Benoit. All of these are not true by the way, especially Orton being the next Austin

Why can't guys just be the 'first XX'??

BQ: Do you miss the Extreme Expose?

Actually no I didn't. Have fun taking this place seriously though

I don't mean as the next big headliner Robert, I mean when fans say 'this guy is the next Benoit because he wrestles just like him', in terms of style and character, not in terms of being the next main eventer when the previous one retires or leaves

I saw this on someone else's, but didn't have time to answer it. Everyone who comes after someone great is compared as The next.. because it's in tribute to the predecessor (Austin, HBK, Flair, etc.). Go back to Hulkamania. When Andre the Giant was in his last years, it was decided to go with Hogan as the next.. face of wrestling at WM3. Same as with Hogan about to retire, they passed the ball to Ultimate Warrior. When Brock Lesnar arrived, he was basically picked to be the face of WWE, but couldn't handle it walked. Wrestling is like anything else, a business that needs a spokesperson they will always be looking for someone to do now, what Hogan did for the WWF in the 80's, what Flair did for the NWA. what RVD did for ECW..
