That's his opinion, can't change that.

The Rock is a Legend in my opinion for all of the moments and matches, accomplishments he's did in the WWE and he's the best ever to do promo's and be on the mic. He was the Most Electrifying Man in Sport-Entertainment and The People's Champion.

It all depends on what you perceive a legend to be. The Rock, even though he was a great wrestler and had some awesome moments and matches, didnt really wrestle for very long and left even though he could have easily wrestled for much longer than he did. So honestly his career just pales in comparison when put up against someone like Flair, Hogan, HBK, or Taker. Was the Rock legend material? Absolutely. But did he really earn that moniker? Not so much when compared to the greats that have passed through the business.

The Rock brought nothing new to wrestling, nor did he change anything while he was IN wrestling. Was he a big star? Yep. Was he entertaining? Yep. But all he was, was a stand-up comedian. Let's be honest here. Without the funny catchphrases and joke-filled promos would anybody have cared about him? Before he started telling jokes he was regularly greeted with chants of Rocky sucks! Rocky sucks! and that would go on throughout his matches. Dwayne Johnson was just an average in-ring performer. He had the size and a great look but as a wrestler, he was just average. He had to start telling jokes and repeating funny catchphrases to get anybody to cheer for him.

Dwayne Johnson himself calls The Rock character an as$hole (it's in his book The Rock Says). As$hole characters are a dime-a-dozen in the wrestling business. Johnson had more success because The Rock was funny and Vince pushed him and pushed him. But he brought nothing new to the business. Other performers were doing funny promos at the time (Stone Cold, Mick Foley, Y2J, Eddie Guerrero, even Vince McMahon); they, too, repeated popular catchphrases regularly. Stone Cold is a legend because he introduced and popularized a new type of gimmick AND he defined what the Attitude Era was all about (rebelling against authority); The Rock was just one of the players in that era. Mick Foley is a legend because of his hardcore wrestling style and what he was willing to put his body through to entertain fans all over the world; The Rock was a pretty-boy who wrestled the generic punch and kick style of the WWF/E. Eddie is a legend because of his unparalleled charisma and ability to connect with fans all over the world, and for bringing the lucha style to the mainstream and making it popular; The Rock is nowhere near the best of the Samoan performers.

The Rock was an average punch and kick in-ring performer, with a generic gimmick. What he WAS, was a good stand-up comedian. But without those jokes and catchphrases he would have remained a mid-card performer hearing Rocky sucks! Rocky sucks! his whole (short) career.

The Rock brought nothing new to wrestling and he didn't make any real (and lasting) changes to the business (as guys like Hogan, Stone Cold, and Flair did). The Rock was a major (and popular) star a decade ago. But he is not a legend.

Well, the truth is, The Rock is a Legend, just because someone has something against the Rock, doesn't really matter! The Rock Electrified the crowd like no other Superstar has, if that isn't bringing something new to wrestling, I don't know what is!

The Rock is a lot more than just a stand up Comedy Act, he has proved in his Movie Career he can play a variety of Characters, not just funny ones, but he can do serious, and he can Action, and the same was true when he was in WWF, he was electrifying within the Ring, Electrifying outside of the Ring!

I don't really think it matters if the Fans use to chant Rocky Sucks or Die, Rocky, Die, a lot of great wrestlers have had the fans chant You Suck, WWF fans use to chant it all the time to Kurt Angle, when he came to the ring, he is still a Legend, Lita got chants like You Screwed Matt when she was still a baby face, Hogan use to get booed too, so that really doesn't matter! The Rock had a lame corny gimmick early on his career, that is why people booed him, the Character developed, his skills Developed, he became one of the best and most profitable WWF Superstars of all time, and was the Face of the WWE/WWF!

The Rock had a connection with the Fans, was a team player, and was extremely athletic within the Wrestling Ring, he has a Great Attitude, and deserves the respect of the Wrestling Fans, I don't really think that his Career being a Short One even matters, The Rock made a smart business choice to go into Movies, Hogan would of done it too, if his films was as good as The Rocks, same with Austin! The Rock gave his all to WWE while he was there, he was more than just a Player during the Attitude Era, he was one of the Faces of the Attitude Era, right along with Undertaker, HHH, SCSA, Mick Foley, Vince McMahon and HBK! The Rock had pretty much accomplished everything there was to Accomplish within his WWE Career, it was time for him to move on and seek new goals within his Life, but some people just don't seem to get that!
