For those who say he was a lumbering overrated botching big man, you just don't understand the wrestling business

Complete Wrestling Icon.

Goldberg helped revolutionize WCW to make it WWF's number one competition, and helped beat the WWF.

He had a huge fan base. And people of that time, loved the squash matches.

He was an icon to WCW but not to wrestling overall.

Goldberg is a icon. Goldberg would have been a huge sensation no matter what era he performed in. His character while bland and black and white was such a hit with fans. The next Goldberg and there will be another guy like him eventually. Which ever company gets that guy will be golden.

My only beef with Goldberg is his lack of respect for the business. I don't care if he wants to retire from wrestling but at least go out putting a young new star over. Golberg went out beating Brock Lesner in both Brocks and Goldbergs last WWE wrestling match. Not exactly putting anyone over but stone cold who got to stunner both brock and bill.

I would love for TNA to have a guy like AJ Styles, Matt Morgan, Abyss, Samoa Joe, Desmond Wolfe or The Pope run a program over 3 to 6 months with Goldberg that came to a head at Bound for Glory where Goldberg would put the guy over and walk away.

He's neither a wrestling icon or an overrated wrestler.

To be an icon, you have to have a legendary career. The reasons wrestlers like Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan are considered icons are because of how they helped revolutionize a new era in wrestling. They were the biggest stars of their time. Other legends like Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Jushin Liger, and others can be considered icons because of the impact they've had on the wrestling business. However, the only thing that remains relevant in Goldberg's career is mostly his undefeated streak. Although Goldberg was a killing machine with brutal power, he isn't remembered for many things beyond his undefeated streak in WCW. He eventually became a huge star in WCW and became popular, but calling him an icon would be quite a stretch. He hasn't made that kind of impact in the wrestling business.

Goldberg actually had some talent and ability for a man of his size. He was certainly nowhere near being a great wrestler, but his brute power and intimidation factor turned him into a star. Being overrated means receiving undeserved praise or exaggerated praise. Goldberg doesn't get nearly the praise as giants such as Kane and The Undertaker. Aside from the fact that he ended Bret Hart's career with his botch, he was usually entertaining to watch. He might have not respected the wrestling business as much, but he did make an impact in WCW.
