I would either go with the Montreal Screwjob with HBK and Vince screwing Bret or the night Eric Bischoff turned up o Raw - No one EVER predicted that it would ever happen and for me that tops everything. Some were conceivable (bar death) but this was one that wasn't expected. Everything else could have been predicted somewhat but a guy that tried his best to put WWE out of business turning up on Raw and hugging Vince? If you said that to me 3 years previous to that weeks to any wrestling fan you'd be locked up, simple as, thats why I think its the most shocking!

Interesting question, starred!

Vince McMahon opening RAW to inform us of Chris Benoit and his family being dead.

Remember that Vince had gotten blown up in his limo the week before. But here was Vince, on TV, out of character, talking to us the fans about (and using insider terms) storylines, fiction, and reality.

The Benoits being dead was horrific in and of itself, but Vince being out of character and talking to us using insider terms just added to the shock.

Well I would say Hulk Hogan turns into Hollywood Hulk Hogan and the fomation of the NWO. It changed the world of pro wrestling forever and even forced the WWE to change and dump the PG rating and go attitude.

You could say it was shocking when Owen Hart died or when Sid broke his leg and it was flopping round like his bones turned to mush.

You could say it was when Brock lesnar did a moonsault and landed on his freakin head and still got up and walked away. Would have broken a normal mans neck.

The Montreal screw job.

when Hulk Hogan jumped ship from AWA to WWF and made the WWF #1

When Hulk Hogan jumped ship from WWF to WCW and made WCW #

When Hulk Hogan signed with TNA at Madison Square Garden in the WWE's backyard.

When TNA went head to head with WWE Raw and topped out at 3 million fans on Monday and another 1.8 million for the replay on Thursday while the WWE saw their rating stay the same with 5 million viewers. Considering TNA traidtionally averages between 1.8 to 2 million fans weekly Where did all the new fans come from and why dont they watch WWE?

The fact that TNA drew 4.8 million viewers the week of Jan 4th with Impact and the replay and being only 7 years old and WWE drew their normal 5 million viewers that week speaks volumes. It's a sign that fans have grown tired of the WWE product. 11 million fans watched wrestling every week till WCW sold to WWE. Since then 5 million on average for the last 10 years. 8 million fans tuned in Jan 4th Fans are dying for another choice on Monday nights.
