Perhaps because Taz wasn't actually that good. He was always better on Commentary.

LOL, Taz is a jobber, but he was injured, hence the reason he went into commentary, you internet fanboys act like everyone should be pushed toward the championship, whether they deserve or are physically capable of pulling it off or not, you know how much that championship would be devalued if WWE listened to you guys!

I say HHH. He was hot after his Rumble debut against Angle. And then in typical HHH fashion, he had to beat him cleanly a little bit later on a Smackdown in 2000 in Philly out of all places (f*cking ECW country). Then he interferes in a ton of matches after that for absolutely no reason and then randomly starts a feud with the commentators. It was just all down hill from there. So I blame HHH for that excellent burial work lol.

Not saying he should have been WWF/E champ but give him some noteworthy feuds at least. Oh well

When Tazz debuted at Royal Rumble in 2000, he already had a multitude of injuries mounting up and his days in the ring were numbered.

After 10 months with the company, he was doing commentary and wrestling only part-time. You wouldn't push a new guy who you knew wasn't going to be wrestling very long.

Come 2002, he retired from in-ring competition, though he did wrestle Jerry Lawler at One Night Stand in 2006, which was somewhat of his "Farewell Match" as he hasn't wrestled since.
