I'm tired of people saying everybody ripped something from Extreme Championship Wrestling, a Bingo Hall pit stop Promotion that wasn't an actual threat towards Major Promotions; do these folks even understand the past of Professional Wrestling whatsoever.

Triple H ripped off the 'Franchise' Shane Douglas Gimmick

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin Ripped off The Sandman Gimmick and Stole the Stunner from Mikey Whipreck

Vince McMahon stole the 'Evil' Boss Gimmick from Paul Haymen

World Wrestling Entertainment /World Championship Wrestling wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Extreme Championship Wrestling, a Promotion that is usually only remembered from cheap Network Cable stations at night and trading tapes.

Hell. I've even heard people illiterate enough to make this statement,

World Wrestling Entertainment Ripped off the Mankind Gimmick from Cactus Jack in ECW;

You really didn't like ECW, did you? I know what you mean though. ECW didn't thrive off skilled technicians. Stone cold had a bit more ability than the sandman ever did. At least they kept there valets out of the ring. I find divas wrestling boring and always have

ECW was the little engine that could.

ECW used to come on cable TV at random times through out the day, that's how the fan base grew.

What really got ECW noticed was the Terry Funk vs Sabu match for the ECW world title, it was very very gory and bloody. Then The Gangstas turned up the volume with their ultra violent style, including The Mass-Transit incident.

You had Shane Douglas cutting very very blunt promos on the legends of wrestling like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan, this was new to us at the time. Talking bad about the faces of other promotions was unheard of back then. This of course was the reason why Shane Douglas was treated poorly by the WWE when he came in as Dean Douglas.

Another thing that made ECW popular was the surprise debuts of big names like Rick Rude, Bam Bam Bigelow, Psycho Syd and Johnny Polo.

Back then, boobs pooping out were not blanked out or edited out, that made ECW more appealing.

The odd and strange 10 minute plus popurrí promos were entertaining.

The bWo were very entertaining.

ECW had a strong cult following, even their ECW merchandise pop-up on the last pages of popular monthly magazines.

ECW, the little engine that could.
