Why are so many professional wrestlers dead?

Most of their deaths are the result of fatal drug overdoses, heart attacks, strokes, or suicide.

No other sport has more deceased athletes in it than pro wrestling, why is this?

Mostly because of WWE's 300+ days of traveling and competing. Suicide is very rare in WWE with Chris Benoit being the only one to do it.

Even though it is fake, the bumps and bruises they get from pretending to fall and get knocked down on the ring and the outside are real. Those rings aren't as padded and springy as it looks on TV, that shit hurts when you fall on it. As it is fact, they really slam themselves down and eachother down to make it look good for TV and for the people there. Everything is on the fly as well, keep that in mind, so mess ups and bad landings happen all the time. To do what they put themselves through every week for multiple days of the week between training, preperation, and the show, it takes its toll and not every superstar can handle that kind of pain so many resort to drugs to deal with that pain. Not to mention the toll it takes on your body and all the injuries that occur. It weakens you severly, combine that with occassional use of drugs to deal with the pain that turns into an addiction and yeah you got the perfect storm for early death.

The stress of traveling. It's a high pressure job also.
