In The History of Professional Wrestling, I would say Millions of Professional Wrestlers have lost their debut matches. As an up and coming Wrestler, The Wrestling Bookers are going to want to see how you work a match. While you consider that to be John Cena's Debut Match. I do not. John cena wrestled for at least one Independent Professional Wrestling Promotion in California before he was ever signed to a WWF/WWE Contract and sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), which was one of WWE's Developmental Professional Wrestling Promotions at the time.

Someone has to win and someone has to lose otherwise you end up with a draw and fans go home unhappy and feeling cheated. So there are probably countless wrestlers who have lost their initial debuts and/or debuts with certain promotions. Barry Horowitz immediately comes to mind as does Bastian Booger/Mike Shaw who lost to Virgil (Mike Jones) on his initial debut in the WWE after quite a bit of hype. It does indeed happen making a debut is not the same thing as making a debut with a push behind it.
