Default Is the women's division in wrestling dead?

I know it still is strong in some places like Japan and Europe but in regards to T.V WWE or TNA it seems to be lacking so why is that?

It's not like the Trish/Lita days anymore.

It might pick back up now that Wrestlemania season is over, but it's pretty much dead.

WWE & TNA both need new writers.

It's now more focused on looks rather than ability now unfortunately. Just look at WWE, it was the women's championship but now it's the 'diva's' championship. The women's title was so much better. Also the matches are so short that it's not giving any of the women credibility. They need to focus more on talent if you ask me, Trish and Lita were very talented.

WWE is lacking of the Divas division since 2008.

TNA Knockouts division is stronger compare to WWE.

The new TNA Knockouts website debuts soon. Meaning they will have their own website.

feminists killed it. the divas used to have stuff like bra and panty matches , but since they had to get family friendly and some feminist complain the only thing they can do is dance semi erotically and fight in boring competitions.

It's dead in the mainstream in America, yes, but on the indies it's more than alive. It's booming. Shimmer Women Athletics, their little sister company Shine, Women Superstars Uncensored. These are all fairly successful indies with a roster based solely on women.

You've also got places like Ring of Honor, whom tap the Shimmer roster for their division, starting to utilize women talent more and more on television. Chikara, which has no gender restrictions (like most lucha libre, I might add), and Resistance Pro Wrestling ran by Smashing Pumpkin's frontman Billy Corrigan, which prides themselves on their local division.

It's true, you're not going to find larger than life personalities in the WWE's women's division anymore unless they're crazy or stupid, but there's a veritable cult of personality in women's wrestling on the indies right now. Look up the Canadian Ninjas, or just Portia Perez, or a LuFisto match, or Regeneration X.

Women's wrestling is probably the strongest it's ever been in wrestling. It's also gaining the respect it deserves state side that it gets in Japan's Joshi leagues and even Mexico. With signings to the WWE like Kharma (albeit short lived), Sara Del Rey (to development training, no less), the Funkadactyls, and Paige, I can honestly say that I've got high hopes for the WWE doing what they've done best over the past 4 years, and that's stealing the new hot commodity on the independents. In this case, it's women.
