Default the undertaker's streak?

when did the wwe first start making a big deal about it?

i doubt it was worth talking about after his first few wins because most wrestlers have gotten 2 or 3 wins at wrestlemania. so how long was the undertaker's streak when the wwe finally started advertising it?

It was wrestlemania 21 when it was really promoted. Randy Orton, the the "Legend Killer" was the first person to make a big deal about ending the streak.

WM21 vs. Randy Orton. It's reported that WWE didn't even realize he was undefeated until Orton himself mentioned it casually to one of the WWE backstage people.

Surely its the Viper RKO Randy. The name "legend killer" came up with him.

It's when they run out of things to make a big deal about.

10-0 was him beating Flair and I recall Flair making a big deal about it when he challenged him

it could have perhaps been a little sooner as 7 & 9 were Kane and HHH ) but I'd wager that was more in regards to the opponent ie .... "HHH has his work cut out for him. Taker hasn't lost at Mania." just a dropped line rather than 'OMG He wants to break the streak!!!!"

wiki it and you'll see the first few wins were either squashes... or Monster v Monster and in the days of Only the 'Big 4' PPVs its possible that with an angle being 3+ months old the writers simply weren't paying attention to the idea he had won the last Mania(or 5) the story as they were writing in the weeks of what is now 'the Road to Wrestlemania' just made sense that Taker won...

--1,2,& 3 were Snuka, Jake Roberts and Giant Gonzalez -- Gonzalez was all gimmick and no talent, and in NO angle should he ever have been put over Taker, save maybe if you want to do the 'fights back from crushing defeat' angle; Snuka and Roberts were on the down side of their 80s hey day... but the angle going in to either Only Roberts was a Plausible winner as I recall the arc

-- King Kong Bundy (4) was also an 80's guy on the down slide in WWE, you have to figure a degree of Passing the "Monster Torch"

-- 5 & 6 were Diesel and Sid... the set up was a similar Monster Mash... and like snake These 'could' have easily been booked the other way depending on the greater arc

- 8 was Big Boss Man... a big deal in the 80s Territory days but by this point not a serious threat w/o 'back up'

which brings us to Kane and HHH as noted above... and also into the American bad @$$ Era (which is why HHH/Taker at X7 was glossed over in there most recent mania match build ups

I guess they might have 'cited it during his Brother feud with Kane... and realistically if HHH was already inserting himself into the 'Family' and using that to get over as everyone claims... would he 'allow' himself to be another Notch on Taker's 'headstone if the Streak were 'a thing' at that point

which brings us back to Ric Flair at X8 in 2002 where in most of the Dust had settled from the WCW Buy Out and 'invasion' with Flair so wanting to Beat taker he 'gave up' his 'half stake in WWE' having been the 'money' behind the invasion
