Purely as in ring performers, Austin.

Goldberg had very little in ring ability. I know a lot of people would think Austin is a man of just 4 moves and no ability. They should watch his older matches in WCW where he was required to work as a talented wrestler. In WWE he was just an ass whooper, and he played the role pretty good.

He could put together some good looking matches and didn't get any of his opponents seriously injured.

As superstars, Austin again.

Goldberg was huge in the WCW. But surely not as huge a star as Austin. His 3:16 T-shirts were the biggest selling merchandise for quite sometime.

stone cold steve austin hands down because austin has made the max no. of merchandise in the history of pro wrestling, had better in-ring abilities, was much bigger draw & is arguably the greatest mic worker of all time. also, goldberg was a draw but was not even half the level of austin. moreover, goldberg was an amazing athlete but as bret hart once said"he had a tendency to injure anyone he ever worked with."so, wrestling was not safe. he arguably is the worst trained wrestler ever. he was a great draw but not as good as austin.

Stonecold why, not only was he fresh in 1996 he had the best mic skills even today he had decent matches over the top promos

Goldberg was just a powerhouse if not the best powerhouse in history he had an incredible streak standing at 173-0 but Nash ended it

But stonecold was better and that's the bottom line because I said so it was a dream match
