If WWE is trying to push a PG product so badly, why are they so obsessed with the attitude era?

First they had an AE feature on WWE 13 video game, then they came out with the AE dvd, and now on WWE video on demand, they are playing footage dedicated to the AE for the whole month. Not to mention The Rock, a prominent AE wrestler has a WWE title match at the Rumble, and Steve Austin is rumored to be in a Wrestlemania match.

Because they are smart enough to realise that bringing back one AE wrestler for A day A event or even A match will make more money then any superstar they have now in A year

(not counting CM Punk or Cena)

I think they are just teasing the fans or what kids call it today trolling, Vince wants us to believe that he's bringing the attitude era back but I don't believe it until I see it.

Attitude era was one of their biggest money makers with the possible exception of the Hogan / Piper days.

They want to make money again..

It was the best era of that company's history. They sold out arenas each night, PPV buys went through the roof, and WWE products were sold out every night. I know they like to distance themselves from that now that they are in the "PG" era but they have to realize that if it was not for that era, we wouldn't have what we have today and it wouldn't be as popular worldwide like it has gotten.

Many adult WWE fans are very pissed off with WWE. Because WWE went from rock hard gory matches to PG matches. This is a massive change and the WWE are aware that people miss the attitude era. However they're aren't bringing it back anytime soon. They are doing well as a PG show. They want to please the old fans so they include Attitude Era games and DVDs and other merchandise.

So to answer your question. Probably to keep some of the older viewers still into wrestling and remembering the good old days.
