Isn't there supposed to be qualifying matches in the weeks leading up to the Royal Rumble? I know Cena is a big name but I think he has to earn his spot in the Royal Rumble. He has had a bad 2012 so this may be him regressing and getting old. I think he has to earn his spot in the Royal Rumble. Maybe Vickie Guerrero will take John Cena out of the Royal Rumble match and make him earn the spot.

Superstars are always in the Royal Rumble, unless they have a title match. So I guess Cena isn't going to be in a title match.

He is the FACE of WWE so John Cena can pretty much do that.

The "big names" generally get an automatic bye into the Rumble match. The "qualifying" matches are generally for the mid-card guys. The "big names", regardless of current won-loss percentage, are considered "worthy" of the match, while the mid-card guys still have to earn their spots into it.

What else can he do at RR? Compete in WWE Title match? Obviously no. Besides, WWE would never let their golden boy miss such a big PPV like RR considering that he's probably going to win it this year (unfortunately)

Just like Cena, Sheamus and Orton also announced on SmackDown that they're going to be in RR match.
