It isn't sports. WWE is now just about a bunch of big guys naked in their undies making long speeches to make up for the long durations of the show.
It has turned to the point where the fans enjoy watching their favourite wrestlers talk all day instead of actually wrestling in the ring. |

WWE "World Wrestling Entertainment" it is in the lightest definition a male soap opera. You see people getting into fights, of course it is much more kid friendly which is a shame since they don't bleed unless they actually do get hurt. But they are still preforming the same moves as in the 90's, there are different story lines and more humour, well more appropriate humour for children.
WWE is and isn't a sports show, it is much more dressed up than boxing or football, but the moves they are doing are real- they don't try to injure each other (Or at least try not to too badly), but they still get hurt from doing it, they still are fighting. So it's more of an entertainment show, but it's been an entertainment show since the 80s so it's a bit heavy handed to ask if it's a sport show anymore. Because it has been entertainment, they were the first professional wrestling company to say it was entertainment, so it was never a "sports show", but you could still consider it so if you wanted because they still pull off the same manoeuvres they did before. |

Only a moron would say that the "wrestling" in WWE is a sport.
Even WWE proclaims themselves as: "WWE, a publicly traded company (NYSE: WWE), is an integrated media organization and recognized leader in global entertainment. The company consists of a portfolio of businesses that create and deliver original content 52 weeks a year to a global audience. WWE is committed to family friendly entertainment on its television programming, pay-per-view, digital media and publishing platforms. WWE programming is broadcast in more than 145 countries and 30 languages and reaches more than 500 million homes worldwide. The company is headquartered in Stamford, Conn., with offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, Mumbai, Shanghai, Singapore, Istanbul and Tokyo. Like other professional wrestling promotions, WWE's shows do not feature legitimate sporting contests. Instead, its programs feature storytelling-driven combat sport matches with predetermined outcomes and fighting maneuvers that are worked, all promoted as legitimate bouts. If you want real sports. WWE is sports entertainment (entertainment with sports combined). In recent years, WWE has fallen so far that ALL of wrestling is getting a bad name because of it. WWE is strictly entertainment these days, and they tend to leave out the sports part alot (since ever single match they book has some type of story behind it, and it's always the generic heel vs face match).
