How come a guy like Arn Anderson never became a World Champion since he was a great wrestler?

Because Arn Anderson was famous enough with The Four Horsemen. Arn Anderson was always more of a beast in the tag team division.

There are certain wrestlers who do more than win titles. Arn was the kind of professional who didn't think he needed a World Title when he was such a star in the tag team division and being enforcer of the Four Horsemen. That was his World Title - being part of the most famous professional wrestling stables of all time

Harley Race answered that question in an interview once. He said the NWA ( at the time ) needed a champion who could sell tickets, wrestle 60 minutes if that was what was called for, and wrestle anyone including very limited wrestlers and make it look like a great match.Flair could do it. Arn could hold up his end but sadly couldn't make everyone else look good all the time and did not sell tickets. I think Arn is great and he himself never complained like a LOT of others who wanted to be world champion. I think Arn knew his limitations of holding that belt, and did what was best for the sport.. Dusty Rhodes also had problems making limited wrestlers look good which is why his championship title reigns were only a week here and there, never for long periods of time.
