When or Will the WWE ever get rid of the World heavyweight title and just have one major champion?

Does anyone else think that the WWE should just abandon having two major champions and go back to having one superstar reigning supreme? With superstars appearing on both shows and smackdown doing horrible I think the two titles should be combined. Besides its about time to get rid of the current wwe title design. Having two major champions is getting boring and a major change and shake up could be good. And with this maybe they can bring back the light heavyweight title or the tv title or even the European title. What do you guys think should the world title and wwe title be combined.

I would love that too, but here's why it's a bad idea. Only half as many guys can be in the main event picture. 2 Main event storylines and 2 PPV main events. The idea is if one storyline is boring, they have another storyline that will draw PPV buys. But I too wish we had one Undisputed Champion again.

I think it would be a great idea because WWE seems to be slowly merging back into a unified brand since superstars go on both shows. The only thing that separates Raw from Smackdown are the two top championships and each champion represents a show. So they might as well just have one "top" championship.

Here's a few reasons why I think this would be good : Having the WWE title as the sole championship will have more contenders going after a single champion. Let's say if CM Punk is still the WWE champion and there were no WHC , that would mean that he will have the opportunity to compete with more people besides Ryback and Cena (as main-eventers) such as Sheamus , Big Show , Dolph Ziggler , Randy Orton , Del Rio , etc. It would give more superstars the chance to be the ONE AND ONLY "king of the mountain" so to speak. Another reason would be that it will make the Intercontinental and / or U.S. titles more valuable as the 2nd top championship in WWE. So mid-carders will be more like main-eventers when competing for those titles (mainly the Intercontinental title , just like the Attitude Era). There's really no point in having 2 major championships cause the main reason why it was that way in the first place was because of the brand split and the WHC formerly known as the WCW heavyweight championship being brought into WWE to give one of the brands a major title of their own. Having both of them now makes no sense and the WWE title will be the most supreme regardless so why not just have that belt alone.

I say they should make another Undisputed championship match , maybe at Elimination Chamber PPV between 6 main-eventers (2 champions , 2 WWE title contenders , and 2 WHC contenders) and whoever wins will become the Undisputed champion going into Wrestlemania. And whoever wins the Royal Rumble will face that champion. I don't know how this will work out with The Rock coming back at the Rumble PPV , but maybe it can happen soon after Wrestlemania.

It was originally to show the separation of the brands i think but now that they seem to be merging back into one brand i think they could remove one completely or make it less prestigious at least

It'll help legitimize the US and Intercontinental title a great deal. Adding the Cruiserweight title would also help.
