Why does the championship not change hands when the champion is pinned in the WWE anymore?

Default Why does the championship not change hands when the champion is pinned in the WWE anymore?

I recently started watching WWE again after a 10 year lapse, and it seems that now champions get pinned all the time, yet they don't lose the championship. Is there some new rule that a championship can only change hands on a ppv or something? Also, why are there so many different champions now?

Well their has to be a championship match first. In that match if the champion is pinned or submitted he will loose his championship however the title cannot change hands if the match results in a DQ,or a count out.

As everyone knows, Champions can and do wrestle Non-Title Matches. If a Champion is pinned or submits in a Non-Title Match, The Championship does not change hands. This has always been true in Professional Wrestling. This is nothing new. You think there are more championships now? I don't think so. WWE has: The WWE Championship, The World Heavyweight Title, The United States Heavyweight Title, The Intercontinental Championship, The WWE Tag Team TItles and The Divas Championship. Titles that The WWE dropped over last 20 years would include: The World Tag Team Titles, The Unified Title; The WWE Women's Championship, The WWE Hardcore Title, The WWE Cruiserweight Title, The WWE European Title.

1. Non-Title matches.. or perhaps you weren't paying attention and it was a Tag match, thus no expectation of a defense (a singles Belt defended in a Tag match is rare, the most notable case being WCW's putting the belt on David Arquette the actor this way)

2. TV defenses still happen, they are rarer than say in the Attitude Era which saw the Belt hotshotted back and forth between Foley, Rock and Austin several times between Survivor Series '98 and Wrestlemania XV in 99 (and yes I only remember this having palyed WWE 13's story mode)

3 as far as titles go there are

WWE, WHC, IC, US, Tag and Divas...this is only 6... going into the WCW Purchase in 2000 there was

WWF, IC, Euro, Hardcore, Light heavyweight Women's and Tag for 7...

(during the Brand split era you had 2 world titles the IC & US, 2 Tag titles teh womens, Divas and a Cruiserweight... so there were 9 at one point
