Seriously, why the need to do so and when were the terms first used? PG Era?

It just sounds terribly lame and stupid especially when some tough wrestler like the Big Show calls out to the audience "WWE universe", as if he is inferior to them.

and another thing is how the word "belt" and "wrestle" is never ever mentioned in WWE. What gives?

They blow things out of proportion to make their "superstars" seem more than retarded inbreds

WWE has been using "superstars" since the 80s.The reason they don't use the word belt is because it's a championship!

Its to make the wrestlers have this larger than life feel unfortunately this was started during the late 70s, early 80s.The term universe is to show has a large fan base. They try to avoid to use the word wrestle because now a days its more singing and dancing then actually wrestling. Also the never call the titles just belt for the audience to view it with value. I agree with you that the WWE should drop at least using the term "superstars" and actually start using the word wrestle.

These are words so that the new PG generation finds "SWAG" into wrestling. Superstars not wrestlers as WWE employs actors not wrestlers with exception of Damien Sandow.

That's Vince McMahon's idea of making the WWE seem bigger than it actually is. He wants WWE fans to consider the WWE it's own world separate from everything else. He wants WWE fans to consider his performers bigger better larger etc than all other wrestlers in the world.

Vince also doesn't like his championships referred to as "belts" or "straps" (common words throughout the wrestling business and wrestling history), he thinks those words make his championships sound second-rate.

He stopped referring to his performers as "wrestlers" in the mid 90's when he decided "wrestling promoter" was beneath him (he's the CEO of the WWE and a "television producer", NOT a "wrestling promoter"). He's spent nearly 3 decades separating the WWE from the wrestling business. Because he freely and publicly acknowledges that wrestling is fake he considers his "sports entertainment" to be above that "rasslin nonsense" and he doesn't want his performers referred to as "wrestlers". They are "sports entertainers" and "superstars" in his mind and it's his rule that everybody in the WWE refer to the performers as such. "Wrestlers" are those common guys you see in rings all over the world. "Sports entertainers" and "superstars" exist only in Vince's little fantasy world, the "WWE universe" which, to Vince, is bigger and better than anything else.

Because they want to shy away from anything wrestling as if it didn't exist,
