Do you agree that if a wrestler doesn't have a nickname that means that his character/gimmick sucks?

Default Do you agree that if a wrestler doesn't have a nickname that means that his character/gimmick sucks?

Most of the big stars in professional wrestling have nicknames for example:The Phenomenal AJ StylesStone Cold Steve AustinThe People's Champ The RockThe Immortal Hulk HoganThe Nature Boy Ric FlairHBK Shawn Michaels

etc.

Those are wrestlers that most people love or at least a lot of people love because the character/gimmick is cool. People dig it. But some wrestlers don't have a nickname and if you can't come up with a nickname for that wrestler...that means that his character sucks. For example:

John Cena (he used to be the Dr. Of Thugonomics before he became a kids role model)

R-Truth

John Morrison

Rey Mysterio

Alberto Del Rio

etc.

Some people would argue that Cena's nickname is The Champ but i disagree because he's only known as the champ when he's actually the WWE Champion. You cannot call him the champ when he's not the champion.

Uhmm CM Punk does have a nickname, he's the Straight Edge Superstar and yes John Morrison does have a nickname, i forgot.

I guess. John Morrison has a nickname The Shaman of Sexy, does that count? :P

I kind of agree with you even if they dont have nicknames though they can be big in the company. Also some people dont have nicknames and they dont suck.

this is an example of confirmation bias.

I wouldn't say they sucked but wrestlers without a nickname don't market as well. Unless your name is CM Punk. I guess there is some truth in your analogy.

The nicknames seem to emphasize The Character. The Game Triple H, The Animal Batista, Evan Air Borne The Great White Sheamus makes you think of the paleness of Sheamus Skin, but it might also make you think of the intenstiy of a Great White Shark and I think Fans in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa (Areas where you will find a lot of Great White Sharks) might have mentioned that to The WWE this summer.
