TNA Bound for Glory Results 10/23/05
By: Chris The Authority Schultz

Alex Shelley vs. Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries vs. Sonjay Dutt
What better way to start off the biggest show in TNA history, than with some X-Division action? 4 of the X-Divisions finest showcased their skills on the free 30 minute broadcast displaying the intensity and athleticism you can find only in TNA. Although Roderick Strong and Austin Aries are fairly new to the X-Division in TNA, they not only proved they belong, but they stirred the crowd into a frenzy early on. TNA veteran, The Original Play from the Himalaya Sonjay Dutt, found himself inside the 6 sided ring for most of the encounter. These athletes put it all on the line and at one point putting each other in a four way submission hold. The experienced Dutt hit an amazing reverse hurricanrana off the top rope for the victory.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt

Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Raven came to the ring with his follower Cassidy Riley right behind him. He called out Larry Zbyszko and demanded that he be put in the title match tonight against Jeff Jarrett in place of Kevin Nash. He shouted at Zbyszko asking "Yes or No!" Zbyszko told Raven that there would be a title match and that Raven shouldn't be demanding anything and just wait. Raven could hear no more and attacked the legend Zbyszko. All of a sudden, Rhino came out and had some harsh words for Raven, telling him he is not the person he used to know back in the day. It wasn't long before security was in the ring pulling Raven and Rhino off each other. Cassidy Riley seemed to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and was the recipient of not 1, but 2 Gores!

Jushin "Thunder" Liger vs. Samoa Joe
One of the most anticipated match ups of the night got the PPV portion of the show started off, featuring the undefeated Samoa Joe vs. the Japanese Legend, Jushin "Thunder" Liger. The crowd went nuts on the arrival of both superstars. The 21 year veteran from Japan went to the air early on in attempt to wear down the Samoan Submission Machine. Even though the size and power advantage went to Samoa Joe, Jushin Liger took it to the big man throughout the match. Joe hit the Muscle Buster and then the clutch, forcing an end to the match when an unconscious Liger couldn't answer the referee.
Winner: Samoa Joe

The Diamonds in the Rough (Simond Diamond, Primetime Elix Skipper, and David Young) vs. Apolo, Sonny Siaki, and Sharkboy
Before the match, Simon Diamond was shown in the back giving his two tag team partners a pep talk before going out to the ring. It seemed as if the talk worked as both Young and Skipper worked very well as a team in the beginning of this 6 man tag team match up. One thing that the Diamonds didn't prepare for was the power of the Puerto Rican big man, Apolo. Apolo came up big, even pulling off a huge leap out of the ring onto the Diamonds and his own tag partners. David Young hit his viscous spine buster on Sonny Siaki to give his team the victory and the respect that they are looking for here in TNA.
Winner: Diamond, Skipper, and Young (Diamonds in the Rough)

Lance Hoyt vs. "The Alpha Male" Monty Brown
No one has been more vocal than Monty Brown about becoming the next number 1 contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Title, but he couldn't look past the big Texan, Lance Hoyt. Hoyt had the size and the skills to slow down Monty Brown's rise to the top. Brown got the early advantage, but Hoyt fought his way back into the match. From there, it was move for move and seemed to be an even match up. That is, until Monty Brown hit one of the biggest Pounces he ever attempted on Hoyt. It was all over after that, as Brown got the 1 2 3.
Winner: Monty Brown

Team Canada (A1, Eric Young, and Bobby Roode) w/Scott D'Amore vs. 3 Live Kru (The Truth, BG James, and Konnan)
During the break when the "Franchise" Shane Douglas caught up with the 3LK, Kip James came in to offer his services to make sure that the numbers game would be even, but Konnan wanted no part of it. The two exchanged some shoves and harsh words until Konnan left. Before the match got underway, 3LK did their thing and got the party started on the microphone. Kip James did make his way out on the ramp about halfway through to get a good look. These 2 teams had such great chemistry with each other that it was hard for either group to take and advantage. In true Team Canada fashion, Bobby Roode cheated by smashing the infamous hockey stick over BG James head. This gave the red and white the victory, but they were not done. Team Canada continued pounding on a defenseless BG until Kip James ran down to pull his former tag partner out. In what surprised many, Kip James saved Konnan with a chair shot to the head of Eric Young.
Winner: Team Canada

Ultimate X Match
Petey Williams vs. Matt Bentley w/Traci vs. Chris Sabin
It was now time for the return of one of TNA's most innovative and grueling matches, The Ultimate X. Each of the 3 men in this match are no stranger to this type of match and it showed as they gave the fans their moneys worth. There wasn't a down moment in this match, as Williams, Bentley, and Sabin went from inside to the outside to the top and all crashing to the bottom. The conclusion of this match was very controversial and will be talked about for the weeks to come. Matt Bentley and Chris Sabin pulled their way towards the X and were fighting over 10 feet from the canvas below. Both men knocked each other off with the X swinging uncontrollably up above. Petey Williams was in the right place and caught the X as it fell right into his grasp, giving Williams the victory. Sabin and Bentley were irate with how the match ended. Winner and new #1 contender to the X Division Championship: Petey Williams

NWA Tag Team Championship Match
America's Most Wanted w/ Gail Kim vs. The Naturals
Just under 24 hours after losing their titles to AMW on Impact, The Naturals came looking for revenge and to regain their titles. Gail Kim, one of the key factors in the AMW victory, was again by the side of Chris Harris and James Storm. Although AMW could be considered by many the most dominant tag team in TNA history, it’s a proven fact that the Naturals somehow have their number. Would history repeat itself?

Their certainly is no love loss between these guys either. Blood was spilled early as Andy Douglas wore a crimson mask in the early going. Both Harris and Storm really dished it out to Douglas for a good portion of the fight. Somehow Douglas tagged in Chase Stevens to get the young team back in the match. After being blinded by some sort of powder, Chris Harris hit the Catatonic on his own partner. The Naturals then pulled AMW's own move, the Death Sentence, on Storm. To everyone's shock, he kicked out of the pin at 2.

Then, AMW went to their bag of tricks and handcuffed Andy Douglas to the guardrail. A helpless Chase Stevens was then at a disadvantage with the 2 on 1. AMW ended up winning the match after Storm busted a bottle over the head of Chase Stevens, leading up to the Death Sentence. All Douglas could do is watch as his partner lay motionless.
Winner: America's Most Wanted

Monster's Ball 2
Abyss w/James Mitchell vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Rhino vs. Sabu
The night was about to get ugly! It didn't take long for blood to spill as Sabu suffered a bad cut to the eye. The fight went all over the Impact Zone as fans were treated to an up close taste of the violence. Yes, there was tables, ladders, kendo sticks, ladders, tacks, etc. In my years covering this great business, I have never seen anything so violent and barbaric as I did in this match. Jeff Hardy, the craziest of them all, did a Swanton Bomb off the top of the TNA set onto Abyss which had the fans going nuts!! This match is certainly an early candidate for Match of the Year. In the end, Rhino piledrived Jeff Hardy from the second rope to get the victory. It looked as if a bomb exploded in the center of the ring after the bout was over. Unbelievable!!!
Winner: Rhino

Ironman Match for the X-Division Championship
"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
This match featured two of TNA's best, and they were about to go the distance by wrestling for half an hour. Both AJ Styles and Daniels have quite a history in TNA, but neither of them wanted to lose the title of being the best X-Division Competitor in TNA. Daniels was hell bent on getting the X-Division Title back around his waist, but Styles was willing to go through hell to retain it. After 25 minutes, there was still no pin fall. Neither man could hold the other down long enough for a pin count or a submission.

Both mean were moving just as quick with 2 minutes left on the clock as they were when the bell rang. I guess I spoke to soon concerning early entrants for match of the year. What an unbelievable display of guts, determination, and stamina this match was. Each of these wrestlers gave us everything they had and in the end, AJ Styles was able to retain the X-Division Title by hitting the Styles Clash and pinning Daniels with just seconds to go in the match. All it took was one pin fall in 30 minutes!
Winner: "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles

10 Man Gauntlet for the Number 1 Contender
Earlier in the night it was announced by Larry Zbysko that there would be a 10 man, over the top gauntlet to determine who faces Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. The first man in was the undefeated Samoa Joe followed by The Truth. Killings began mocking Samoa Joe's dance from earlier in the night, but Joe didn't think it was too funny and begin pounding on the former NWA Champ. Next in was a bandaged and bloodied Sabu who came to the ring with a steel chair. Lance Hoyt was the next in with a good amount of rest having fought earlier in the night. He gave a viscous boot to Samoa Joe. Then it was time for the monster, Abyss. Samoa Joe met the big man face to face and the crowd went wild. Next to come down, Jeff Hardy slowly made his way down to the ring.

Monty Brown was the 7th entrance and quickly Pounced Sabu. Monty Brown took Hardy over the top rope with him, costing him the win by eliminating them both. The winner of the Monsters Ball 2 was in next. He made quick work by taking out Lance Hoyt. A fresh Kip James was the next participant to come down. He had a huge edge due to not having a match in the Pay Per View. The last entrant was AJ Styles who came down very slow after just wrestling for 30 minutes. It didn't look like Styles had much left in him. Rhino then took his second person out by eliminating Sabu. Abyss eliminated Kip James. AJ Styles almost eliminated Killings, but Kip James helped him stay back in. Eventually Killings was eliminated soon after. Abyss then took more out by eliminating both Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. Rhino then won his second fight of the night by eliminating Abyss.
Winner: Rhino

NWA World Heavyweight Title Match
Special Referee: Tito Ortiz
Rhino vs. Jeff Jarrett
Rhino finally got his chance at the NWA World Title by winning the gauntlet. This was Rhino's second victory tonight. Could he pull off the hat trick? A fresh Jeff Jarrett went right to work on the bloodied and battered Rhino. A coffin was wheeled out to ringside by Jarrett's men towards the beginning. Gail Kim tried to get involved by jumping off the top rope, but Tito Ortiz caught her and took her to the back. While doing this, Jarrett used his chance to bring out the equalizer. The guitar made its way into the match and over Rhino's skull.

Ortiz got back just in time to count, but Rhino kicked out. AMW came down to save Jarrett, but Ortiz held them off. While Jarrett was ready to use his second guitar, he was caught off guard by GORE! Rhino covered him for the win! Rhino won his 3rd match of the night and became the NWA World Heavyweight Champion! Before Rhino could celebrate, he was attacked by AMW and Jarrett. 3 Live Kru then came down for the save until Team Canada showed up. Now it was an all out beat down on Rhino. Jarrett brought the casket in the ring and they lifted Rhino up and put him in.

Jarrett thought he had gotten the last laugh until some familiar music hit the arena sound system. It was Team 3D! Brother Ray and Brother Devon cleaned house along with 3LK and opened the casket. They lifted the new champion back to his feet and gave him the gold. The show ended with Rhino on top of the casket holding the NWA World Heavyweight Title for all to see.
Winner: Rhino

-----------------------------

Wow. Rhino after two previous matches catches the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. I am impressed. Sounds like it was an awesome show. Too bad I'm poor and couldn't order it. Oh well, time to gank the recorded tape from my friend. ZING!

That move jeff Hardy did off the set was amazing. I thought he was going to miss. He jumped off the set, over the entrance ramp to the floor.

It was like New Jack Jumping off something combined with Mick Foley falling off the cage into the table. It was that amazing.
