Default *news*Edge Talks About Mania, Flair, Evolution, Christian

Thanks to Imran for sending in the following:
As you may know Edge from WWE is currently doing promotional appearances here in the UK at the moment. He was on the James Whale Show last night on Talk Sport (a commercial radio station). The presenter regularly has WWE guys on the show - including Mick Foley and Ric Flair in the past.

He was on it for more than an hour and did good job promoting WWE's latest pay-per-view offering WWE Vengeance. He mentioned several times that he was going to kick Randy Orton's butt and become a five time WWE Intercontinental champion.

A caller asked him who would he like to face, past or present, in a Wrestlemania main event. He said he would either go for Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels or Hulk Hogan. He said he'd lean towards a 60-min Iron Man Match with Bret Hart, and feels they could do some good stuff together. But thats sadly not going to happen.

As a young guy Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair were his favourite superstars. He also likes the work of many of today's current WWE superstars naming Rob Van Dam, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Eddie G, Chris Benoit (and some more which I can't remember!)

His career highlights include his work with Eddie G, Kurt Angle and his tag matches with Christian. Hey may tag with Christian against in the future.

He doesn't blame Eddie for the neck injury he suffered - he feels it wasn't the only incident but rather a gradual build-up that required him to get the neck surgery. He did feel his neck breaking.

Chris Benoit was one of the first men to call him after the surgery although all of the superstars called him. He feels he could do some great stuff with Chris Benoit (in response to a caller mentioning the rumours circlating about a possible Benoit-Edge match). He's looking forward to working with Triple H and would also like to work with The Undertaker.

He doesn't know if he will win the World Heavyweight Championship before the year is up - but will do it before he retires.

He won't do any more TLC matches - he thinks that is one of the main reason he required neck surgery. He said the surgery Kurt required would work on people who weren't falling on their heads in their profession - which is why Angle's surgery hasn't been a success to a certain extent.

A caller mentioned how he got booed against Ric Flair in Manchester on a recent tour of the UK even though he was the face. Edge responded by saying Ric is a legend in the business and since the WWE does such few shows over here in the UK the crowd wanted to cheer Ric. He said he turned on the crowd.

Edge didn't bash the Internet - when a caller asked him what he thinks about spoilers being posted he said Internet has changed a lot of industries and wrestling is no different. He thinks if someone cares enough about wrestling to post a spoiler then they care enough to watch it even though they know what is going to happen.

He did confirm that a live Raw show will be done from the UK in October some time.

He doesn't have much spare time. He's currently in the process of editing his book. He tries to train 6 days a week.

That's about it - all in all Mr McMahon should be pleased with Edge. He came off very well and did a fantastic job promoting WWE Vengeance (which is on Sentana Sport over here in the UK.

One other note - The Rock will be appearing on Parkinson (which is a respected TV chat show over here) on BBC1. I think thats about 22:30. BBC1 is available in the UK - but also to other European countries.
